Bartering for providers
I just read a thread a provider started in the Business Services section that I found quite interesting. She brought up the topic of bartering her services for other things she might need in her daily life.
She mentioned bartering in exchange for Cosmetic Dentist, Auto Mechanics, and maybe even Furniture Dealers. She said she was also open to other suggestions if anyone who read the thread was interested.
Now at first glance, I don't think it's that bad of an idea really, as long as you feel comfortable with the provider you choose to do this with. So my question is what does everyone else think?

I figure it could be great if you make sure your clear about what the services are worth and that the barter is fair. And of course to not give anything up until you have solid, irrevocable proof that you'll be getting a fair end of the bargain. Personally, unless its something very expensive like a trip to Europe or breast augmentation, you'd probably be better off and have a lot less headaches with cash.
I've had a couple clients try to offer me something really great in exchange for sex (which I don't offer), like gifts or cruises, but when you really sit and do the math I found that the guy was really trying to rip me off. Its generally one somewhat luxurious gift or favor and they want unlimited call-you-all-hours-of-the-night sex in exchange. That's a total ripoff. Your services should only be of the caliber of whatever they gave you in exchange. Otherwise you'll just feel used and that's not what this lifestyle is about - you should feel luxurious!

I've traded photography services with providers several times. Some have paid, some have played. It all depends on if you're comfortable with the person and if the quality of the service you receive is good. You can either spend money or have fun. If you trade, the only thing you give up is time, really.

You make a great point Daniella. I'm sure it would work out best if u only did it every once in a while when needed. Maybe if I were to come across a client who happened to be a doctor, I might call upon his services if I were to get the flu and then whenever I had gotten well again I would return the favor of a great night!!

That's an awesome idea....imagine if you hurt your back trying out a wild new sex move...it would be great if you had an extra special relationship with a chiropractor!

I have been offered barters from providers. I do not do it, a world of problems can be created. If she needs my services I will not have sex with her at all, period. While your business is in the sex industry, mine is not and I do not mix pleasure and business, can be a very big mistake, IMHO. She needs to pay me with money, that simple. I have been offered discounts and free services from providers in the past, I no longer do that as I have nothing is for free. She wants something, if I pay her normal rate fee I owe nothing. No guilt, just fun to be had.
If you barter your services be careful, while you may think you have even exchange usually one of the two of you feels ripped off. If you both pay cash for appropriate services than all is better, IMHO.

I have an auto repair shop and I barter my services for others all the time. I could work out a nice deal with providers

I did this a few times and had the exact opposite reaction. One "free" session and they expected unlimited services from me.
Now i don't even tell them what I do and it works much better for me.

i know a lot of chicks that barter for all that cosmetic filler stuff you guys put in your face. one for a boob job, another for a car. depends on the parties involved and trust is a major factor. what these providers are really doing is more of a SD type deal, where they have a long term relationship and no cash is ever exchanged. plenty of ways to do it. i dont have much to offer in my field, so no luck for me. have a buddy who is a dentist who often trades for dental work which is not cheap. i would imagine providers could afford to pay for that stuff but why> why not save that money for somethign else if the guy is willing to trade i think.

I can see how it could be a bad idea if the two aren't very clear about the trade. In my RL business world, I have often been a fan of trade. In this industry, I have used it for handywork around the house, and I definately got my share of the value. I would use it for things I sort of need but aren't willing to fork out the cash for.
