Default Ontario Casinos in Trouble

Ontario casinos, including those in Niagara Falls, have experienced dramatic drops in revenue and may have to be unloaded by the Province.

Having to bring my passport OR buy the enhanced drivers license is a pain in the ass!

Especially when there is the Seneca Casino right there!

9/11 is probably the best thing to ever happen to Seneca Niagara.

I really do like Seneca Niagara better. Not having to deal with the border, and the fact that alcohol is comped (not the case in Canada), make for a more enjoyable time.

Default Fallsview Casino

I was there 2 weeks ago on a Thursday
at 3:00 P.M.very busy,at 6:00 average,
after the show let out at 9:30 it was
very busy.
From talk with dealer's and bartender's
it is slow Mon-Tues-Wed. but picks
up later in week. This explains why
they are comping more early in the
week to get more action.
Also the smoke free facility makes
the Seneca smoke stack more
inviting
Just my 2 cents

I know what you're trying to say, but Seneca Niagara opened a year after 9/11.

FWIW, I used to hobby more in Canada than in the U.S. before 9/11, but not any more.

I used to hobby mainly in Canada till discovering ASPD and now ECCIE. Now there is little need to go North. WNY is teaming with hobby action.

I'll be damned, I did not know that. I swear it seems like that place has been around for longer then 10 years.

I am in Seneca Niagara quite a bit. I have been told by a number of Canadians that our casino is better.

Its funny because I bounced between the two for quite awhile and while I enjoy the Canadian and LOVED it when the $ was stronger I prefer Seneca too!

This story highlights border-crossing hassles for Canadians, but U.S. citizens face similar treatment coming back from Canada.

For years Canada has capitalized on American tourists spending their money there. They knew how to market and offer things to Americans that weren't available here. With the American dollar valued lower than than the Canadian Loonie, there has to be a GOOD reason to go to Canada, especially with the border hassles, since 9/11.

It is nostalgic to recall that the peak period of my hobbying in Canada coincided with the lowest values of the CAD against the US$. The all-time low occurred on January 21, 2002, when 1 CAD = US$0.62. It meant that the typical Niagara Falls agency rate of 180 CAD an hour was only US$110!

I dearly miss them rip-roaring 90s with the strong USD.
Used to be able to use Canadian ATMs with no fees being charged to get CAD. You usually got 50% more for your USD. Best rate for a couple months was $100 USD got you $164 CAD! Good times indeed!
With those rates I used to hit Canada 2-3 times a week and have a blast.

Then Bush Jr got in and the USD went to hell losing 50% of its value.
