Pizza Delivery Ruined.....
OK, so to begin this story, ya need to know a bit about my background. My parents owned and operated several restaurants and also worked for many well know food distributors throughout the years while I was growing up. This gives me a unique perspective into the restaurant business in general.
I grew up in VERY small towns in East Texas, so there were not a lot of "nice" places to go out to eat, rather more like Mom and Pop joints, of which we owned at least one. I spent a lot of time going to various restaurants with my parents when they were doing business. So, I am pretty wary and actually have to psyche myself at times just to get the gumption to actually go "out" to eat. I have to ignore many of the things my brain knows about the restaurant business, the cleanliness of kitchens, employee habits and whatnot.
Over the years this has become a little easier and I have even found pleasure in simply ordering a pizza to be delivered, because of course, this type of thing just wasn't available in some of the very small towns in which I lived and seemed exotic to me. Anyway, since moving to the "big city" ten or so years ago, this is an indulgence I partake in at least once every couple of months.....until last night!!!!
O M G!!!!!....the most distressing thing EVER happened while I was pulling out of the apartment complex, and I am totally mortified and distraught. So, I was pulling out of the complex and I noticed a pizza delivery vehicle and think...."Self, it's time to indulge", but much to my dismay, when I glanced at the driver....prepare yourself.....
He totally had his finger jammed all the way up into his brain by way of his sinus passages.....pizza delivery is totally outta the question and no longer a pleasurable option....possibly forever. :-(
On the bright side...I always made a kick a** homemade pizza......guess I better break out my recipe for this!!! LOL

Aww gee, Max, I could have gone all week without reading that. That's disgusting.
I make my own pizzas. I cut a batch of dough into 6 or 8 pieces, roll them out, and prebake a few minutes & freeze them. When we want pizza, I can have one on the table before you can spell "Dominos". Garlic, tomato, fresh basil & mozarella & whatever else is on hand. Even my teenage grandkids like mine better than "store bought" and I'm sure they'll never have delivery again after I tell them your story. (You are one of the girls at the office, aren't you?).
Stay well.

Ewww. I worked at Grandy's when I turned 16. One morning the cook that was opening had the flu but still came in to work a few hours to get things going before the next guy could come in to replace him. Well, he turned on the fryers and was prepping the chicken to fry and got sick to his stomach, he threw up in the fryer. They just left it because it would take too long to let the fryer cool, dump the oil, clean, refill and let it heat back up. It would make them late for lunch rush.
Gross.

OK BJ....you win! My story was WAY mild compared to that....I may never eat again, except for the fresh veggies that I just planted in my new garden. Sooo looking forward to yummy organic tomatoes that no one will touch but me! And I'm not really a germaphobe, but some people are soooo darn nasty.....

Ummm...ALWAYS wash fruits and veggies thoroughly, whether they are store bought or home grown. Hard to wash a prepared pizza or any other prepared foods. yikes!

Instead of having a delivery driver bring you a pizza that might have fallen on the ground, or the driver spit in it or maybe plucked one of the toppings off for himself, just head over to Little Cesars, hot n ready pizzas for five bucks and thats hard to beat.

I lived out in the vicinity of Ferris/Ennis many years ago, in an area so remote that the local fire dept. would not come out to our area due to distance and lack of fire hydrants. Ordering a pizza took, on average, about an hour and a half to get to us, and it was a small local pizza joint.
So one afternoon I order a pizza...I am home alone so I had on some boxers and a long sleeve men's dress shirt with no bra (I like to let the girls go free when I'm bumming around the house). I hear him knock... I open the door... a vine was hanging down in the doorway so I brushed it out of the way, only to disturb a nest of wasps, which immediately flew down the sleeve of my shirt and started stinging me over and over again! Out of instinct, I start running around, arms flailing, and quickly pull off my shirt to let the little buggers out. So now I am topless in the front yard, with the pizza guy staring at me as though I had stepped out of a fellini movie.
Good times!

OMG...that's hysterical other than I hope you weren't allergic to the stings. Bet that guy thought it was the best tip of his life and probably still tells that story to this day!!!

"What'll it be?" said the waiter,
as he stood there picking his nose,
"I'll have hard boiled eggs and oysters,
You can't get your fingers in those."
