On a laptop it's usually cheaper to replace the computer than to get a screen replaced from my own personal experience... or you could try a mom and pop shop. That would probably be my best guess

If a new laptop can be obtained then i agree newer would be faster and prob better....but if it is good working order other than screen maybe repair makes more sense. If the OP does choose to replace i would like first dibs on buying the old one for resale. (will wipe the drive of old data of course)

I would recommend just buying another machine. I just purchased a Dell E6420 on Craigslist for $ 200. And saw a couple of the older machines for around $ 100

Yea sadly what the others are saying is true. If you found a screen cheap enough they are easy to replace. But its usually cheaper to just get a new notebook. I've done pc/notebook repair for many years.
