I had never heard of him so I read the Bio on the news story. It seemed like he lived a very exciting yet dangerous life. Almost seems like a movie script. Condolences to his friends and family.

The guy was a big deal in Kansas City back in the early to mid 90s'. He made KC his home during his boxing heydays.

Seen him fight several times, plus he was in one of the "Rocky" movies. Tragic loss, my condolences to his family and friends.

I remember him. Last I had heard anything about him was that he wasn't going to take any drugs. Preferred healing the "natural way". As a side note I think I remember hearing that he was related to John Wayne. Names match anyway.

Tommy Morrison Boxer
Marion Morrison (aka John Wayne)

He was a bi sexual IV drug abuser and degenerate gambler, loved strippers both male and female. I am not trying to speak ill of the dead, but I also don't want to see the usual celebrity cover up of what he was.

That's right, D Dog; idolizing a fool isn't the direction to go. His excesses are the issue and if you're none too bright to start with those deficiencies are exacerbated. He had a talent and its use may well explain his erratic behavior. That is the real lesson. It's the same lesson Mohammed Ali and dozens of football players are learning, too, at a variety of levels, as well as his brethren, including Mike Tyson. At least in the case of the NFL and football in general it's being addressed on some level.

He used to date my babysitter back in the day. My brother almost got his ass kicked by him in Westport once defending his wife's friend to his unwanted advances. I liked him in Rocky V but was too young to remember his boxing.

Who is idolizing him here? I merely passed on the news and a few links.

I wasn't talking about you JS, but you know what usually follows someone with a modest amount of celebrity when they die that's what I was referring too. But I am also very familiar with the guy and his bad habits.

I met him once. He was very nice to me. In his day he had one hell of a left hook. I don't see how him being bi sexual even matters. So what?

Because he denied it, he denied having HIV, he denied living a lifestyle that is condusive to contracting HIV. You should own what you are and what you do.
