Royals chances of making the playoffs
I'm not really that big of a baseball fan but I'd like to see the Royals make the playoffs. What are the chances if they win out?

The last I saw was still in the 5-6% range.

Ya, more than the chance they have had at this point in the last several years. It is more like a 2.9% chance. Just a lot has to fall into place for them to make it.

Well base on last night's results....the %, according to the blog site "Royals Review", their chances just jump up to 6.2%....still in the slim to none category ....but fun to see them playing for something in September.
They take the next two games from Texas...then things start to get really interesting. The one lost to Cleveland in the last series, with Royals up 3 to 1 late in the
game, really could be a crusher. What the Royals manager was thinking in bringing that one relief pitcher is beyond me.
As another side note...there is a very small chance that 4 to 6 teams may actually tie for the last play-off spot.
MLB would hate it, if it works out that way...especially if the Yankees are not one of them. Would be interesting to see how MLB handles it...but it is a long shot
I'm not a big fan of the trade of Myers for Shields...but I believe the Royals have the best AL record since the All Star break.
Not a big baseball fan...but it is fun seeing this young ball club playing with heart and desire
Fun time to be a KC sport fan, with the Chiefs and Royals playing half way decent!
How long has it been since we had both teams playing some interesting games...however I think the Chiefs offense continues to be very offensive, lol

they better re-sign Shields to a long term deal to even justify that trade.
I still can't believe they traded away their best hitting prospect since Beltran for a guy who is a free agent after next season.

They may not make it, but it is a lot more exciting than when they were done in July.

Doesn't look like they're going to make it. Too far back with too few games remaining and too many teams ahead of them, but it's sure been fun to watch this year. They've been an exciting team to follow. Love the way they play the game and their "never give up" attitude. Anxious to see what the off season brings and what moves will be made. I was very impressed with the outing that Ventura had a few days ago; such poise for a 22 yr. old. If Duffy and Paulino can get healthy, we will have a plethora of pitching and could, perhaps, exchange some of that for a big bat, preferably a right handed bat to play right field. Anyway, looking forward to 2014!!

Nonsense. Royals fans have been living on tomorrow for nearly 30 fucking years. Tomorrow has to come sometime - and the Shields/Myers trade is key to that. Would you rather be in a pennant race - EVEN IF WE LOSE - or have the Rookie of the Year on yet another 74 win Royals team? Without that trade, that's where we are.

how about the cheap fucking owner start to spend some money on the team for once ....you never would have needed a Sheilds in the first place if you don't trade away a Cy Young award winning pitcher in Greinke.
by the looks of it Myers is for real, and if they let Sheilds walk next year ...what then?

"Then" it will be 2015 and we will have had two winning seasons, something that we haven't had for a long fucking time. One of the wisest things ever said in baseball was said by Whitey Herzog. "Win tonight's game. It could rain tomorrow." Meaning that if you hold back a resource from winning tonight's game to try to win tomorrow, something could happen to make it so that you don't get to win that one either. A window of opportunity existed to win, and it was taken.
And getting rid of Wacko Zacko was the best thing we did - he was only worth a shit for 2 out of the 6 seasons he was here. If it weren't for incredible patience on the part of Royals' management, that idiot would be sacking groceries in Florida after he quit.

The Shields/Myers trade had to be made. In baseball, everything starts with pitching. Shields is a true, top of the rotation type of pitcher, an absolute bulldog on the mound and the unquestioned leader of our pitching staff, which is leading the AL in ERA. He has also brought a new attitude to the entire team with his leadership by example. I like Myers; he seems like a good kid and has nice talent. I wish him a long and successful major league career, but we had to make that trade. If Shields leaves after next year, so be it. We have some nice, young pitching talent coming up with Ventura, Zimmer and others. Shields was just what we needed, exactly when we needed it. The K has been packed this weekend. When was the last time that happened in September???
BTW, great win today!!!!! Nice way to wrap up the home schedule.

Man that was one hell of a game today. A f-ball landed right in front of me, the kid that caught it gave it to his little brother, it was so assume to see. The little boy didn't say a word.
The royals won in the bottom of the 10th 4-0
