Can't disagree with that.....and I've noticed......but it doesn't bother me. I just glance over those and move on to those I'm interested in.

It's a lot easier going through posts in the same thread, than it is to open multiple tabs from threADs or the ISO threads.

The way I see it, those who have use for the SNA thread will check it out. Those who don't can just ignore it.

And it's a level playing field for providers since they'd all have equal access to it. Anyone who chooses to use it, might benefit or just get lots of time wasters......but it'll be up to them ultimately. And those who post on it at every opportunity will also risk turning away a certain group of clients, because they'd appear desperate.

The reason I'd like a thread like that is so I'd have an extra option available when the need arises. Other times, I'll just check the Provider Ads and Weekend Lineup......no biggie.......

I think it would be useful, but the mods to have police everything here. If they don't want it, I am not going to insist they do more work. It's fun to read all the bull shit in the threADS (real or perceived) AND it helps the post count of those who care about it. So, Party On threAD starters.

I sort of don't understand why they don't just plop it over in Provider Ads and let it be the free for all it always becomes. Then just delete it every couple of days.

It doesn't need discussed at all, the person in charge said there's no way it's happening again. This is just pissing against the wind, that's always a stupid mess. Some people aren't that bright!

Why don't we make better use of iso? A post from a guy that says "between 11 and 2, I'm looking for a $100 hhr" if this is how we shop, we get what we want AND the marketplace establishes a more realistic price.

My agenda for this thread was to find out if it would be possible to do a SNA thread, not based on old Austin rules, but based on the guidelines Mokoa set.

Mokoa does have a much greater leeway when it comes to blatant ads being posted in the Coed section, but let's put him aside and discuss the merits of the guidelines he established vs the guidelines we had.

The guideline most violated (or the only one violated) in the Austin thread was:

2. Do not list a range of times... "available from 3-5 or 12-4 or rest of the day" or " say I am back in town and available". These WILL be removed


Space's rationale for those guidelines was "This is not an additional ad Forum so don't treat it like one", which makes sense, legalistically. From a practical standpoint, having such stringent rules only increases the mods' frustration level.

What I'm trying to understand is......why the need to strictly adhere to the definition of an "ad"? Would the board owners be opposed to having "ads" in the SNA thread? As it stands, the owners are even fine with keeping threADs bordering on blatant ads in the CoEd section....

And why does listing the availability time range change a non-ad into an ad? Without the time range, the other posts weren't ads?? Seems to me that it was just decided that that's where the line should be drawn......

Based on the feedback during the startup of the prior SNA threads, there's no denying that there's a high demand for such a thread......

At the end of the day, I'd really like to know what problems would there be with using Mokoa's guidelines:


You may post your availability in terms of time. For example, for the next 2 hours or until 2 AM or from 10 PM till midnight. Availability must be within 12 hours of the post.
Since availability is for up to 12 hours, you may post only once every 12 hours.
You may post your general location.
You may post the best way to contact you.

This has been discussed in the Staff areas on multiple occasions and after much clamoring for it, it was tried in lost of locations. I used the same guidelines for the SNA Forum as were discussed in Staff and RTM's went through the roof. No matter how hard we tried to get the providers to understand the simple steps to posting a SNA notice in the thread, they couldn't stick to the VERY simple guidelines and then the other ladies RTM'd the posts like crazy.

In the end, it was just too much of a PITA (translate that to pain in my ass) to allow it to continue. If you have never tried being a Mod, you probably would not understand.

You can post all of the polls you like, discuss it ad nauseam,jump up and down, pat your head and rub your belly, etc but as long as I have a say the SNA thread is a dead issue in Austin, Waco, Temple, Killeen, and Bryan/College Station.

BTW, the owners are not fans of the SNA threads either.
