I know, I know, it's not on TV now, it just finished its five-year run this year, but I just watched all of Boardwalk Empire via Netflix. Spoiler: everybody dies. Well, almost everybody.

It's awesome, with a capital P for Prohibition.

OK I watched all 5 seasons and know how it ends, but uggh...maybe some others don't.

Nobody's mentioned The Wire?

Best damn show few have heard about. I rewatched all five amazing seasons recently. Was originally on HBO starting in the early 2000's.

"What the fuck did I do?" said the sort-of lead charater and Baltimore cop Jimmy McNulty...every time he did anything wrong with women, which was basically all of the time. But he liked his Jameson. The whiskey, that is.

ESPN's Grantland did a brackets thing a few years back, ranking and then squaring-off the top 32 characters on the show. They could have gone deeper.

The Wire belongs on the Mt. Rushmore of TV dramas.
