Imagination is overrated.

When it comes to sex, I think our imaginations and fantasies are often shaped, limited and defined by Hollywood, internet porn, commercials, and all kinds of questionable people telling us what we should want and need as normal human beings. I've said it before on this site, and I am sure I will say it a hundred more times. I have no interest in living out other people's fantasies or living up to other people's expectations.

For what it's worth, I've played with all of the options listed above with varying degrees of fun and failure, and here is what I have learned: Imagination and reality rarely mix well. (Of course, there are those few times when reality blows my mind away, and you can read about those adventures in my reviews.) But for the most part, reality falls far short of our fantastic hopes and expectations, and I think many of the bitter guys on this board are victims of impossible expectations and the resulting disappointments they are forced to live with.

Then again, some of them are just assholes.

Anyhow, at this point in my life, the biggest adventure in intimacy for me is honesty. It takes balls to be honest about your deepest, darkest (or brightest) fantasies and live with the consequences - both the good and the bad ones. It is humbling, terrifying, inspiring and full of surprises.

I don't know. I wonder what would happen if "Honesty" was added to the list above as Option #6. Is there even room for honesty or genuine human connections and growth in the hobby? Or is it all just about getting a deep throat blowjob from a green-eyed redhead going down I-95 at 117 miles an hour?
