Default Interesting documentary series

So, I just finished watching a 10-part documentary series by Oliver Stone entitled The Untold History of the United States.

Without getting into a political discourse, I can state that it was fascinating. It certainly shed light on why we are experiencing much of the terrorism around the world today. It hearkens back to WWII.

I'm all ears to hear your recommendations for anything nonfiction and historical to read or watch please! I'm never without a book (well...my Kindle) close by! The more thought-provoking, the better!

Lately I've been reading books by Robert Harris, latest one, Imperium, about ancient Rome, fictional but based on actual events, fascinating insights into their form of democracy. I've read the others of his, like Dictator, which is actually the sequel to Imperium. I want to read Pompei next.

As for documentaries, you can't do better than PBS

I just finished "At Ease - Stories I Tell to Friends," by Dwight Eisenhower. Picked it up at his museum but it's of course available through Amazon. Imagine sitting there with a two-term President and the Supreme Allied Commander in WWII telling you the story of his life, as well as anecdotes that don't really 'belong' in the life story of a statesman. Example - once at West Point, he violated a rule (a frequent occurrence) and was told to show up in his superior cadet's dorm room in 'long coat,' which meant full (and very hot) uniform. Ike took him literally and showed up in the coat. And nothing else. He said he got additional demerits but it was worth it.

I'm just starting "Citizen Soldiers," by Stephen Ambrose. So far it's also very good.

Why is this thread in Coed? Is the documentary about hookers?

Moved from Coed Discussions. Not hobby related per the guidelines.

Netflix has a documentary called 13th which looks at how polical and legal strategies have been created in attempts to bypass the 13th Amendment.

Totally LOVED this documentary!

Have you seen The House I Live In? It's related to the same topic.
