Hidden gems in KC
I have been to KC a few times and while I'm pretty familiar with the city I also want to try out some of the few "hidden gems" in town. I'm thinking of making a visit next month and I love trying out new restaurants, food trucks, little shops, (doesn't have to be food related.. I also love bookstores, speciality shops, etc) etc places off the beaten path that is known to locals only! So tell me where do YOU like going?

The caves are worth an interesting view. There are some nice eateries on Main, and SW Blvd. The River Market district can be interesting as well.

I suggest First Fridays, the crossroads area, Power and light, Plaza, Zona Rosa up north, and depends what type of food you like...

First Fridays..
First full weekend in every month.
Consist of 2 venues..Day hrs , West bottoms
Unique Vintage Stores Galore!!!..food trucks, coffees you can Google it♡♡♡
In the evening @ Crossroads Unique Artistry ..food trucks, music,
BOTH are absolutely amazing & this time of year!!
Also an evening event called Third Thursdays..

The "north end" is east of river market great sub sandwich and fried chicken special on Saturday night after 4pm. Best in town.

Might not be type of info you looking for but a tour of the World War 1 Museum should be on your list. Take plenty of time & read all the info it is quite eye opening!!

There are caves?? I'll have to check that out. Also I've been D Y I N G to go to First Friday!! Could be fun to go with some fellow providers, hehe.
Ohh, I should have posted lol I'm a vegetarian so it may limit some restaurant. ^_^ I'll write all these down. Definitely going to plan my next trip around first friday though because that sounds awesome. We do a version of that in my hometown but I'm sure KC's will blow it out the water - or should I say fountain? Lol!

Oh, I almost forgot, if any of you like slushies there is a place around crossroads called SnoCo that sells alcoholic slushies...they are pretty good and something new to try.

You'd be amazed at the restaurants that cater to vegetarians as well as gluten free dairy free AKA lactose intolerant I believe the more diverse the menu is the better the business LOL

Yes Zona. Better prices than Plaza and has VS, Pink, Buckle, Yankee Candle, Barnes & Noble, etc. Plant the guy at a bar, get his credit card and ....
Yes caves. Mostly just offices and stuff underground.
But, Jaegers Paintball is in a cave near Ameristar. Ever really want to unload emotions and shoot ......
Yes the first weekend thing West Bottoms, lot of nicely rebuilt furniture and other botique type stuff. There's a few bars down there now. Over 6 blocks of stores to wonder through.
A decent full size zoo. Perfect for a slow sunny sunday morn when phones are quiet.

Just East of the Plaza is the Nelson Art Gallery. You can spend days here. It also has a very fine Cafe inside with a very nice European setting.
Don't miss the exhibit from China.

For Vegan/Vegetarian fare try Eden Alley on the Plaza, FuD (quaint), Cafe Gratitude (pay what you will). Rainy Day Books--a small local bookstore that brings in authors of all ilk on occasion. Steamboat Arabia (a recovered steamboat with an interesting history) can be found at the RiverMarket--itself an interesting place on Sat and Sundays. Enjoy KC in depth.. a wonderful city

There's a hip little vegan coffee shop on 39th street in midtown called Mud Pie. Funky fun neighborhood with restaurants, bars, bookstores, etc.
