according to NFLarrest.com , which "provides an interactive visualized database of National Football League player Arrests & Charges,":

“Players get arrested for a variety of crimes: drunk driving, drug offenses, domestic violence, assault and battery, gun violations, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, theft, burglary, rape and even murder.”

Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol (DUI) and drug offenses are the most common charges file by police against NFL players - followed by domestic violence and assault – according to the article:
The top crimes are: DUI - 218Drugs -100Domestic violence - 98Assault - 74Disorderly conduct - 44
“So, maybe — just maybe — NFL players aren't the best ones to be preaching to America about the perils of police brutality”

Yeah. Domestic violence was another one Roger bungled. There was a huge pushback from female fans after the Ray Rice debacle. But the NFL seemed to weather that storm. But people remember. Now this shit show. It all adds up. I don't think it's going away. The players still don't get it.

The commissioner should have nipped this one in the bud the Monday after that thug took a knee.It is simple; do it again and you can go play in the other football league.
I blame him for letting this go a day past then.
If I were the owners, I would fire his ass for putting them in this pickle.
Hire Condoleeza Rice so you get somebody with some balls.

Add to that, breast cancer is NOT the leading cause of cancer deaths.. Hell iirc its #3 on the list.. Though some sights list it as #1 way ahead of even lung and brain cancer..

News flash, the only organization that is prohibited from controlling speech is our government. NFL is a private organization and they can make rules that must be followed. Way too many people actually believe they have a right to free speech without consequences in in the public and private sector. The fact is, even the government controls speech by it's employees.
 |
And many private businesses already DO control speech.. Work for Pepsi, you can't say (while wearing your uniform) you drink coke.
Work for Home depot, when wearing your uniform, you can't wear any political buttons or hats.

If not, then you are ok to not play the anthem. BUT since the NFL, NBA and NHL all say "NATIONAL" in their title, they are required by congress, (iirc passed in the early 1900s) to play the anthem..

And when by their own stats, they have at least one NFL player arrested for something, on average once a week, they have no capacity to call what they do 'Moral'.

I agree 100%. The only good thing about the Anthem being played at sporting events is it allows me to grab a beer or something to eat before the game start. The song was written by a racist bigot in 1814 so I could care less about standing for it. Just my .02.
