Spector was a lawyer. Like all Senators. That's what lawyers do. It's called defending your client. It wasn't "pointless" at all. Any more than Anita Hill's accusations were "pointless". What is your argument anyway? That the defense should be muzzled whenever sexual misconduct is alleged? The only reason for Republicans to go easy on Kavanaugh's accuser is the political optics. Otherwise Kavanaugh is entitled to a full and vigorous defense. Just like you would want if you were in his shoes.

Democrats plan to yield most of their time to two jr committee members who happen to be former prosecutors.

He deserves a full throated defense as well.

If he did rape her, that is aweful, and he deserves far worse than he'll get. It is just as bad, however, if an innocent man's reputation and career are ruined. He is done if he doesn't get confirmed, even at this point.

After 35 years, even though it was allegedly suppressed until the last 12 or so years, the timing is horrible to bring it up now. Why bring it up how she did?

Why not go to police 12 years ago? Cosby's transgressions were old as well and he was held accountable.

You don't get to make demands that essentially mean Kavanaugh has no way to defend himself. If it comes out that Kavanaugh does have something that fully exonerates him, will these same lefties call for charges against Ford?
