France bans terms "Mother" and "Father"

France is set to ban the words "mother" and "father" from all official documents under controversial plans to legalise gay marriage.

The move, which has outraged Catholics, means only the word "parents" would be used in identical marriage ceremonies for all heterosexual and same-sex couples.

The draft law states that "marriage is a union of two people, of different or the same gender".

It says all references to "mothers and fathers" in the civil code – which enshrines French law – will be swapped for simply "parents".

The law would also give equal adoption rights to homosexual and heterosexual couples.

Justice Minister Christiane Taubira told France's Catholic newspaper La Croix: "Who is to say that a heterosexual couple will bring a child up better than a homosexual couple, that they will guarantee the best conditions for the child's development?"



"What is certain is that the interest of the child is a major preoccupation for the government."



Nut case DPST's are substituting the words Parent1 and Parent 2 for Mother and Father.

I enjoyed my visit to Paris years ago, however,

I will never set foot in France Again.

Vive le revolucion! Robespierre has returned!

And Rightfully So, TM! I applaud that - a person's orientation is inborn and not changeable. Equality under the Law to encourage stable partnerships is a good Thing IMHO.
Does not mean that the LBGTQ has the right to control the majority M_F marriage relationships and their children.

I am Ok if France (or the DPST's) choose to offer Partner option on birth certificates. Leave the Mother and Father for the majority alone.

DPST Rule of the Minority can be oppressive- this is a classic example.

If you support this French Rule - please go back to the courthouse and petition the Records Section to change any related birth certificates involving you to Partner 1 and Partner 2.
Assuming existence of a Partner and birth certificates.
