The best providers are discrete and safe in their dealings with others in the hobby. Lie to me, baby. I actually find it reassuring. It’s part of the fantasy. I lie to you when you ask me what I do.
I’m a doctor. I’m a lawyer. I’m a movie star. I’m an astronaut and I own this bar. I’d lie to you for your love.

Just give me the lovin’ I’m paying for and I’ll play along with any storyline you and I want to go with.

From what I have observed...there maybe a connection on health care professions and some of the ladies on here. Maybe it's in their genes/jeans to take care of people

I think, at least among the independent ladies who got into this by choice, there is a LOT of validity to this.

When I first got into this, I was pursuing a path in the healthcare field. There was a plot twist that changed my path, but my current field still has a lot of contact with people-- while giving me the opportunity to utilize my marketing and advertising skills along with my "people pleasing" tendencies. I think a lot of indies in this are people pleasers/caretakers by nature.

Agreed. Being able to do your job while being disgusted (as an, hopefully, extreme descriptor) is not something that everyone can do successfully.

In addition to the caretaking aspect, I think that the habits of using personal protective equipment EVERY single time contributes to their longevity and lack of down time.

I also typed something here about a baseline for average intelligence, but I don't want to open up that debate.

They all get in it by choice, they choose to work 2-3 hours a week for a 40 hour average paycheck, I wouldn't go as far to compare them to RW caretakers now. Who's drinking your kool aid here? lol

			White privilege...
The fact that one of my favorite clients... who happens to be a man of color... can drive up to the Galleria in his 70k vehicle, walk in the store in his Armani suit, and will still be followed around like he's a loss prevention risk while I can show up in the same store, in jeans and an old t-shirt and nobody will bat an eye because I look like a white Plano soccer mom.

White privilege does not mean a person has more. It means that in the race of life-- you've got a head start. You aren't going to be automatically judged based on your skintone or on how pronounceable your first name is. When black kids cause trouble in school, the assumption is that they're going to end up in the system. When white kids cause trouble in school "Johnny just has ADHD and needs some meds".

There is opportunity for everyone in this country-- but some have to work harder for access than others. Some of that is socio-economic in nature.. and some of that is race-- and you'd have to be blind to not see that.

Privilege, whether white or male or whatever, is real. I enjoy mine, and I fight to eliminate it (or at least bring attention to it) whenever it's not terribly inconvenient. I wish I could say I fight it all the time, but sometimes I don't recognize it, and sometimes I just don't have the energy or want to deal with the associated BS.

You have it every day-- the fact that you don't realize it is also part of that privilege.
