i doubt the constitution has any say in the matter, it would be some sort of party rule
and then the ballots etc have been printed and sent
i do know that if s candidate were to die before the election and his name remains on the ballot, if he gets more votes than his opponent, and though he were dead, his opponent does not win, for the people wanted a dead man over the loser
