If anyone reading this comes from a lifelong family tradition of voting Democrat, please take a long look at what has become of the Democratic Party in the last two decades. It is not what you or your grand parents remember.
Listen to what the influencers on the left are saying about the assignation of Charlie Kirk and recall the national mourning for JFK, RFK and MLK.
Then look at what the Democratic Party stands for in 2025 and lay that on what you yourself stands for . . .and vote your conscience in the primaries and misdterms.

Now do the Republican party...
Trade: The traditional Republican commitment to free trade has been abandoned in favor of protectionism. Under the Trump administration, large-scale tariffs were imposed on imported goods from countries around the world, including China. This marks a significant departure from past support for free-market capitalism.
Fiscal policy: Where the party once prioritized reducing the national debt, the focus has shifted. The 2024 Republican platform does not mention curbing the national debt and instead links economic goals, such as combating inflation, with other policy objectives like cracking down on immigration and lifting regulations on oil and gas.
Foreign policy: Traditional support for international alliances and a strong stance against adversaries like Russia has weakened. Trump has aligned with authoritarian leaders and questioned support for NATO, a position a stark contrast to Cold War-era Republicanism. However, some recent polling in 2025 indicates a potential shift back toward supporting military aid for Ukraine among some Republicans.
