Well...partly for cash. And a lot to satisfy his psychotic, childish egotism.
("Shakespearean" is amazingly ridiculous!)
As for the argument that he wouldn't do this because he was already "insanely wealthy"...well...he has been on the ropes financially many, many times. But now....FUCK NO! The asshole truly is rich AF, becoming richer by the goddam second. And much of this success due to the influence he wields in the GOP and by being president.
So yeah. Most of us would think "I am a multi-millionaire, I am secure, that's enough."
No. For people like Trump, Musk, Bezos, Bessent...a fuck ton of money is NEVER enough.
But don't worry! He cares about you! Really.

Trump cozies up to Zohran Mamdani?
Do you know why duct tape and The Force are similar?
Both have a light side and a dark side.
What I really think Trump did was to duct tape Mamdani to the Democrats. Sort of like duct taping an albatross to them. Trump knows many a Democrat has the heeby-geebys about Socialism.
Now Mamdani is stuck to them but good.
Futt Bucked 'em good, I dare say.

It was a joke. I don't think you or anyone else on this board is a pendejo, or dumb ass. I reserve that for the politicians.
How long have we posted in the same forum Yssup? Maybe 8 years? If I called someone new here, like Mort Watt, a pendejo, yes, it would be an insult. If I call you a pendejo you should view it as a sign of endearment. Please brush up on your Mexican Spanish. I have a buddy who calls me pendejo every other time I see him.
Please note that I have changed my byline from Lifetime Member to El Pendejo. Please feel free to start calling me Pendejo. I'll view it as a sign of affection. Just don't step over the line and call me a pinche pendejo or there will be hell to pay. Porque soy un enano de acero, carajo. Just so there's no further misunderstanding and you don't get in over your head, that means "I'm a midget of steel, damnit."

I think he did the opposite here recently WYID. He's making it where Republicans will be less able to tarnish Democrats with the socialist brush in 2026.
It actually is good they're getting along. Maybe they'll serve as a moderating influence on each other in the culture wars. But man, I was afraid they might start banging right there in the oval office. South Park could be closer to reality than many of us care to think.

Most of the leftists on here would have been thrilled to vote for Trump if this was 1996. I would not. I'd hold my nose and vote for Bush 1 and Dole all over again. Trump is shedding his base. If he doesn't use the kill shot of J6, he's going to end up jailed and likely dead at the hands of the leftists after his term.
And I will HAPPILY vote for the next Nazi in hopes that he WILL REALLY MAKE THE TRAINS RUN ON TIME... if you know what I mean.
As for MTG... she resigns two days after she's made the time in office to get her lifetime pension and medical... Congress is a Toxic place... but not so toxic she won't take the benefits. Not too upset, because none of these bastards should be spending 30 years there anyway.
The Zohan? Meh he's going to get crushed by the corruption. He does have islamic foot soldiers on his side though... so he essentially has a private Army in NYC... it will be interesting to see how Trump deals with him beyond the gladhanding in front of the cameras.
INteresting times....

Good post. I don't agree with all of it, but there's more truth in it than many of the MAGA faithful or Democrats would care to admit. And it explains why some people, like you, who aren't big Trump fans still vote for him. What do you mean by "If he doesn't use the kill shot of J6"?

MAGA eating its own never gets old.
It is fucking awesome to see him tear MTG up. Not because of my hatred of her. Because it is fully indicative of the real Trump.
Her past obsessive support of him was impressive AF, if nothing else. Hugely beneficial to him in times of need.
And now?
He proves what everyone knows, but most of MAGA will not admit:
He has NO fucking loyalty to anyone.
(how's John Eastman doing these days?)

I absolutely believe that for Trump the presidency is nothing more than a branding opportunity and a chance to get people to send him and his businesses cash. Every one of his businesses is festooned with his brand and image. He’s treating the US government in exactly the same way. You think the Biden family was corrupt and selling influence but Trump’s crypto business is the perfect place for foreign actors to influence the Trump administration via investments in the crypto firm.

His character is and always will be as a huckster. He sells himself and a bunch of snake oil via his businesses. Eventually leaving his investors and customers holding the bag while his business goes bankrupt.

That's why MAGA is just NOT gonna shift away from him no matter what... that's why he's Teflon. Because EVERY conservative knows there isn't a single Republican out there thats more reliable than Trump.
If it's a facade... meh, I'll take it because he's still kept more promises than any other Republican since Gingrich and Reagan.

She's not wrong.
Over 90% of all House seats have been gerrymandered into "safe" districts. Which means you only need to worry about being "primaried" by a more extreme candidate from within your own party. If you survive the primary, you're a shoo-in to win the general election.
So how do you avoid being primaried? If you're a Republican, you veer further right. If you're a Democrat, you veer further left. Either way, you send out fund-raising letters showcasing how you hate the other party (personified as Trump or Schumer/Pelosi/AOC) more than any would-be primary opponent could. Primaries are usually low-turnout affairs, so in order to win you also need to enlist the support of party "activists" - who tend to be more extreme than the rest of the electorate.
Less than 10% of all House seats are "toss-ups" during the general election. We're talking 30-35 out of 435 seats. Those are the only districts still left where the voting demographics encourage moderation, actual discussion of the issues, and the need to appeal to voters on both sides. And many of these "toss-ups" are in the process of being gerrymandered into "safe" seats soon.

Actually...there were two GOP pundits in a NY Times discussion that claimed she was going to run for President. And they said this a day before she announced she was leaving Congress.
I don't know if I believe that. But it was damn interesting that they both said this before her announcement.

I believe this is the beginning of an all out battle royal for the hearts and minds (snick) of the remaining MAGA cult. Vance is dogshit as a candidate and brought nothing to the table. Greene wants to fill the void among the looniest portion of the cult. So does Greg “Rolling Blunder” Abbott and a few others.
I don’t see anyone out there who can return the GOP to respectability.
Maybe Zoran Mamdani will. LOLLING!

Nah.
Momma always said:
Keep your friends close; keep your enemies closer, or was it Sun Tsu or was my Momma Sun Tsu?
Regardless, Mamdani is looking for a Sugar Daddy. Sure ain't gonna get any from Maduro or Netanyahu or Sadam Husein. Doubtful how much he'll actually get from Hochul or the dirty little peoples.
Luved it when one reporter asked him if he was still intent on fleecing whitey.
Either way; whether you're a Left-wing nut or not, we'll all have to pay for MTG's pension, health and dental for the rest of our lives and those of our kiddos.
Ain't socialized medical grand? Now I don't mind if we have to pay for it while the are in Congress, but then term limits must be a thing too.

That lady is not going anywhere for long. She is like a hooker who will retire, and you'll see her ad in a year using a different name.
She knows she is not going to move up as a MAGA so might as well try another method to resurrect a career if she wants to achieve higher than just being another house rep big mouth. Either way, smart to distance herself from MAGA now even with a clear push from Trump... the MAGA book for retards is on borrowed time IMO unless some big changes are introduced that people with a brain truly get behind.
