Trump threatens Powell with bogus prosecution, and the greenback tumbles..
so world markets think having an independant fed is actually a good thing. who knew..
after the news broke, the stock market dropped, and gold went up..
at this rate, the new reserve currency for central banks will be..gold and silver. bye bye greenback. thanks, Trump..
and the dollar's future looks..iffy.
all this because the spoiled brat in the White House isn't getting his way on interest rates. gotta luv this guy..
2025 has been a real trainwreck for Uncle Sam's fiat currency. and who do we have to thank for that..
when the bond markets start demanding more than iou's, then things will start to get really interesting..

there's even a name for this. "Sell America". just lovely..
https://www.cnn.com/2026/01/12/busin...-investigation
i was hoping more for "Fuck China" and "Made in America" and "Buy America"..
but contrary to "America First", that doesn't seem to be what we're getting with Trump. classic "bait-n-switch"?..
oh wait, what am i thinking. i'm on a hooker board. why wouldn't it be bait-n-switch..

He needs to go.
Not Powell, Trump-tilda. Maybe Trump thinks he’s going to float our economy on stolen oil…

Dang...even previous Trump defender NC senator Thom Tillis is expressing serious reservations about this.
Quote:
“If there were any remaining doubt whether advisers within the Trump administration are actively pushing to end the independence of the Federal Reserve, there should now be none,”
“It is now the independence and credibility of the Department of Justice that are in question.”

Insane. If anything the Fed’s been too dovish during Powell’s time as chair. If Trump runs Fed policy he might just unleash inflation worse than what Biden’s American Rescue Plan set off.
Or maybe Trump’s crazy like a fox, again. He realizes the political class including himself doesn’t have the balls to reduce deficits, so the only solution is to inflate ourselves out of the debt mess….On second thought, naah. He’s a big spender, just look at his plans for defense and the DHS. He’d raise government spending faster than inflation left to his own devices.
Who would have thought, weaponizing the DOJ against the Fed. You have to give the Trump administration brownie points for creative thinking.

I think that the main intent of this "investigation" is to send a message to the next Fed Chair: you will do what I want or I will weaponize the DOJ against you too.
We are unbelievably fucked.
(very interesting to see no MAGA support of this here so far)

Good to know...since this 'criminal probe' seems to focus on the increase in costs of a massive renovation of Fed buildings.
Taxpayers are not footing the bill for the Fed renovations. Unlike other government agencies, which receive taxpayer money appropriated by Congress, the central bank is self-financed, drawing on interest from its massive holdings of Treasury debt.
Originally budgeted at about $1.9 billion during the first Trump administration, the project's costs have swelled by $600 million....a 31% increase.
Compared to a new ballroom that, in less than a year, has experienced a 100% increase in cost.

After getting unjustly screwed over in Manhattan court rooms you'd think Trump would have an interest in making the justice system fairer. Unfortunately though he views it as "us versus them". When you start taking an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth, you end up with a lot of blind people with dentures.
And what did Powell ever do to Trump anyway, besides trying to save him from himself?

Oh, I loved how Powell called him out in real time when the stupid orange slug tried to inflate the cost of renovations. Powell took that paper donny had, looked at it, and told him in his face that was wrong since he included a project that was already done and paid for 5 years previous.
The look on that stupid prune pit face donny had when he couldn't get a faux one over Powell. He's probably been rage farting still over that.
