Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) 'explains' his stand(s) on Iran and regime change on CNN

COLLINS: So, it sounds like you'd support U.S. military strikes?
MULLIN: Well, I would support removing the regime that's killing their own people.
COLLINS: Because you are in favor of taking out the Iranian regime?
MULLIN: I am, at this point. They're murdering their citizens.

COLLINS: But you just said you are for a regime change here.
MULLIN: No, I said I'm for the strikes. I didn't say--

COLLINS: But you said, before that, you are for taking out the regime.
MULLIN: Yes, absolutely, because they're the ones murdering their own people. That's different than regime change. The regime change is up to the Iranian people. We didn't -- we're not going actively to remove the regime. We're going after the people that are killing their own people, and that happens to be the regime.

https://transcripts.cnn.com/show/skc...-13/segment/01

unrelated but an interesting contradiction in terms from Mullins...
Now, I want to just use a factual number that is in everybody's mind. If that number is true, that it's 12,000 to 20,000, this issue (ph) that 12,000 people that they're saying that's already been killed that we know of?

Trump threatening Iran is back (or maybe never left)...

Quote:
We have a big flotilla going in that direction, and we’ll see what happens. We have a big force going towards Iran. I’d rather not see anything happen, but we’re watching them very closely. I stopped eight hundred and thirty seven hangings on Thursday. They would have been dead. Every one of them would have been hung. This is like from a thousand years ago. This is an ancient culture. Very smart people by the way. It’s an ancient culture. Eight hundred and thirty seven, mostly young men, were going to be hung on Thursday.

And I said, “If you hang those people, you’re going to be hit harder than you’ve ever been hit. It’ll make what we did to your Iran nuclear look like peanuts.” And an hour before this horrible thing was going to take place they canceled it. And they actually said they canceled it. They didn’t postpone it. They canceled it. So that was a good sign. But have an armada. We have a massive fleet heading in that direction. And maybe we won’t have to use it. We’ll see.

Another broken promise.

#HeWhoShallNotBeNamed rages about involving us overseas and says he wouldn't do it. Doesn't want to be involved in nation building.

Maggies will just be focused on ol' joey while giving donny yet another hallpass.

I said in my post at https://eccie.net/showpost.php?p=106...5&postcount=4:

Today's Latest News Headlines:

https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...litary-options

https://www.cnbc.com/2026/01/11/trump-iran.html

It's time to end the AYATOLLAH REGIME IN IRAN and FREE the Iranian people.

How many of those fucking TOLLAH do they have anyway?

Seems like one dies, a dozen more TOLLAH comes out of the woodwork to replace him.

They are all cuckoo crazy fanatics who all speak the same broken record:

"Death To America"

But they have cell phones including American Brands like Apple and Google and Motorola.

Kind of hypocrite when you scream "Death To America" while you are holding an American Product in your hand!!

Meanwhile in CUBA:

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/...e-consequences

It's time to FREE Cuba.

Bay Of Pigs failed because Kennedy was a PUSSY!

He abandoned those poor Cuban Exile Brigade with no air and naval support and left them to be slaughtered or captured by Castro's guerillas.

This time it will be the Bay of Eagles.

We can topple the CUBAN COMMIE government in just a few hours with the full might of all 6 branches of the U.S. Military: Navy, Army, Marines Air Force, Coast Guard, Space Force.

I see no reason why we should be stuck in a tiny little base in the tiny southeastern corner of the island when there is an entire island available to us.

If you, Dictators of IRAN/CUBA/NORTH KOREA/CHINA mess with your population who just want to be free and live free from dictators, the USA will find you and end you !

BTW CHINA, we have not forgotten what you did to those poor folks who just wanted to be free at Tiananmen Square in 1989 .

We are waiting for the right time and the time has come.

Take one step toward Taiwan and we will end your regime, Dictator XI PING!

Don't mess with America, Don't mess with President Trump.

3 MORE Years of President Trump and then 8 years of J.D. Vance.

No Democrats In The White House Ever Again To Mess Up America Again!

Life Is GREAT!

RONNIE IS SMILING in his grave at President Trump.

He is happy he INSPIRED Donald to become President:

First off Kennedy kept this country out of harms way by not being a dumb fuck like all the presidents after him and they killed him for it. Secondly WW3 will ensue in the Middle East starting with Israel. Israel will be decimated and eventually colonize Ukraine. Once WW3 has been declared over a one world government will emerge and the Western world will be the same.

Politico is reporting that the Trump Admininstration is weighing new tactics to drive regime change in Cuba, including imposing a total blockade on oil imports to the Caribbean country,

I just wonder when China is going to start REALLY militarily asserting themselves on the world stage...and use Taiwan as their first action.

I suspect that if you ask most Cubans, they would welcome a regime change. The problem is that things will get worse before they get better, regardless of whether the impetus for change is internal or external. My son in law is a naturalized Cuban immigrant and that's the impression I get from him and his friends. Maybe I'm wrong. I haven't surveyed the entire country.

No doubt the people of Cuba would prefer a 'regime change'. Don't blame them one bit.

But the way the US seems to be working today, I fear that, to the people, that regime change at best would only rise to the level of Puerto Rico. We've not done Puerto Rico to many favors...remember tossing paper towels... Heck, much of the island can't even count on having electricity on a 24/7 basis. Cuba doesn't have the natural resources to be plundered, uh, mined...so I don't see a huge change for the people.

Worst case would be another Haiti.

I guess we'll see how Venezuela progresses. Fingers crossed.

In theory, a US 'intervention' in Cuba could well be a bloodless (well maybe almost bloodless) affair.

All one would have to do is cut off all or even most of oil and gas imports. Biggest importers are/were Venezuela and Mexico.
Venezuela was the biggest but not now. Mexico would likely appease Trump.
Hey we've seized 7 tankers already. What's a few more.

Anyway, with no fuel and little or no power, the current 'regime' would collapse quickly.

But then, damn good plans and funding better be in place to help the new regime big time to get the fuel and oil turned back on QUICKLY.

Mi consuegra is rationed 2 eggs a week and has either no electricity or maybe 4 hours a day for, I don't know how long now. She'd be happy to trade places with almost any Puerto Rican you can find.
Pre Castro Cuba had no more resources than current Cuba. Their proximity to Florida is a point in their favor for tourism.

You're 100% right about Haiti!!

Back to Iran...is this a distraction from the last distraction which was a distraction before that?

Trump
“We have a big flotilla going in that direction,”
“We have a big force going toward Iran. I’d rather not see anything happen, but we’re watching them very closely.”
“But we have an armada. We have a massive fleet heading in that direction and maybe we won’t have to use it, we’ll see,”

Meanwhile in Iran...a new mural appears

And the Ayatollah has retreated to his underground bunker leaving son #3 nominally in charge. Reducing the chances of him being eliminated by the US.

Little doubt that in a straight up air war, we would do serious damage to Iran's military capability. But it might come at a sizeable cost to the US in equipment, men, $$ and international standing.

A ground war would be even more costly and likely protracted. And to what goal? Another Afghanistan??

Or is it all a bluff?

Fox News report brings up a good point...cheap Iranian drones.

A massed drone attack on the flotilla headed Iran's way...would some get thru? Could they cause serious damage to the Lincoln?
