once again you post a link that doesn't cite 27 percent .. in any way. 27 percent of what? tonnage coming in? tonnage going out? 27 percent increase in costs? in what exactly?
let me just ask you this ... if you'll answer
are nations imposing unfair trade tariffs that negatively affect US business internationally?
so is an AI summary wrong? mine? eyecu2's? it's fine for quick facts. now go back to post WWII and follow the unfair tariff breadcrumbs and understand why we are where we are now. unless of course you'd prefer the US to continue to allow unfair trade tariffs by other nations to hinder long term US business growth both at home and in international business.
that trail of breadcrumbs is far longer than you seem to think and Trump isn't the first president to attempt to reset trade. criticize Trump's "Bull in a China shop" approach all you want but know that 60 years of ineffective presidents both Republican and Democrat to address this makes weak half-measures useless.
You're missing the point. Farms have been subsidized for decades to keep food sources secure, and to not let farmers be subject to the whims of weather only. Tariffs are further down the line for economic stability. That stability can be upset by radical swings in an already precarious industry.
When you add tariffs that are thrown around whimsically, or as a method to penalize importers, you do so at the peril of the people who are producing the product. In this case we're not talking about it percentage or two but 25 to 50% which is ridiculous. China figured out how to wag the dog and just bought their soybeans from someplace else. This is why Trump is such a terrible leader he doesn't realize that we're not the only game in town, and that there are choices. Canada's doing the same thing, and tell him our Administration to pound salt.
This is exactly why Congress should be the only persons able to administer tariffs, and only after careful consideration. Not shooting from the hip and levying such tariffs via the stupid social media post. We suffer a complete fool in the office of POTUS
A well-reasoned response to Tariffman's recent WSJ letter.
The trade deficit. trump's op-ed claims that he has "slashed our monthly trade deficit by an astonishing 77%."
That would be astonishing. But in reality, the Census Bureau reported last week that the trade deficit increased—not decreased—by nearly 37 percent in November, the most recent month for which data are available. Through the first 11 months of 2025, the trade deficit was 4 percent higher than it had been in 2024. That is literally the opposite of what trump is claiming.
It's somewhat astonishing that the Journal allowed such a wildly misleading claim to appear in its pages. Someone really should have fact-checked this before it went to print.
----------------------------------------
It's not as astonishing as it should be, because Der Führer would just sue the WSJ for fact-checking his utter nonsense. By the way, WTF is the President of the United States doing writing an op-ed for the WSJ anyway?
There is no getting away from this fact: tariffs are pushing prices higher. The Harvard Business School, trump's favorite source on the matter, recently noted that prices for imported goods are up 9.7 percent from their pre-tariff trends, while domestic prices are up 4.4 percent. Those increases have added an estimated 1 percentage point to inflation as measured by the consumer price index.

This is something that only MAGA morons can deny. And why? Because Dear Leader says so. That's all the "proof" these depraved shit heels ever need.
Meanwhile, everyone else in America is listening to their wallets, and their wallets are telling them the truth: WE ARE PAYING FOR THESE TARIFFS.
