Indication of how mid-term elections may go?
https://www.texastribune.org/2026/01...cial-election/
Quote:
Democrat and machinist union leader Taylor Rehmet won the special election Saturday to represent a solidly red Texas Senate district that President Donald Trump carried by 17 points in 2024, a stunning upset that injected a fresh and urgent sense of a panic into the GOP from the Texas Capitol to the White House heading into November’s midterm elections.
With ballots tallied from all but a handful of voting centers, Rehmet had 57% of the vote, besting the 43% for his GOP opponent, conservative activist Leigh Wambsganss, who vastly outspent Rehmet as Republicans including Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick mounted a furious funding push in a bid to tilt the election in their favor in the final days.

I am asking all America First Patriots in Texas’ 9th State Senate District to please make a plan to GET OUT AND VOTE on Election Day, Saturday, January 31st, for a phenomenal Candidate, Leigh Wambsganss. She is a highly successful Entrepreneur, and an incredible supporter of our Movement to, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. My very good friend, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, needs a strong conservative Republican in SD-9 to KEEP TEXAS RED! The Radical Left Democrats are spending a fortune to beat a true MAGA Warrior, Leigh Wambsganss. You can win this Election for Leigh, who has my Complete and Total Endorsement. PLEASE MAKE A PLAN TO GET OUT AND VOTE FOR LEIGH WAMBSGANSS IN THE JANUARY 31ST SPECIAL RUNOFF ELECTION! Find your closest Polling Location here. Leigh will NEVER let Texas, or the USA, down! Of course, today Trump is 'disavowing all knowledge'
“I don’t know,” Trump said. “I did not hear about it. Somebody ran it where?”
Several reporters clarified that they wanted his reaction to the Texas race.
“I’m not involved at that. That’s a local Texas race,” Trump said.
Another reporter added, “You endorsed the Republican —” when Trump cut him off.
“You mean I won by 17 and this person lost? Things like that happen,” the president said.
“Does it worry you —” a reporter began.
“Well, you don’t know whether or not it’s transferrable, but I’m not on the ballot, so you don’t know whether or not it’s transferrable.”
Trump continued "No, I don’t know anything about it, I mean I know there’s a race going there. That’s too bad. What can I say? I have nothing to do with it.”

TACO! How predictably vaginal.
It’s not going to be a blue wave. It’s going to be a red, white and blue wave.
America will exorcise itself of MAGA.

No, I don’t know anything about it
What can I say? I have nothing to do with it.
For a stable genius, Trump seems to be afflicted with a very poor memory...

RX, you got the numbers to how much the GOP guy flushed down the toilet trying to get that spot? If I heard the right election place, the maggies dumped megabucks compared to the winner.

These issues and questions will slowly be resolved over the next eleven short months.
The only poll that counts is the last one in November. . . . .and I feel that, given resent election history from say, 2016 through the present, we won't really know now the results until the next day if not the next week.
Keep an eye on the betting in Las Vegas though.

Wambsganss reporting a whopping $736,000 in expenditures compared to Rehmet’s roughly $70,000, according to campaign finance filings with the state.
Outsiders have also been spending on the race. VoteVets, a progressive national veterans PAC, poured in roughly $500,000 to boost Rehmet. Patrick, the upper chamber’s presiding officer, contributed $300,000 to Wambsganss’ campaign through his PAC, Texas Senate Leadership Fund.
Rehmet entered Saturday with no cash on hand while Wambsganss had $310,000.

CNN Analyst Delivers DOOMSDAY News To Democrats Over Blue State Mass EXODUS LEADING To DEPRESSION!
RX792P this video may explain the Texas anomoly. Democrats are fleeing higly taxed Blue States for a lower cost of living in Red States. Democrats in mass exodus no longer want to pay for social programs that are bankrupting Blue States and they don't want to pay for the illegal immigrant sanctuary cities in Blue States. They're tired of high taxes and getting taxed to the hilt. This is a direct result of piss-poor Democrat leadership in states which citizens are fleeing from. All of this which may explain why that candidate won. Democrats are taking their politics with them from Blue States for more affordable Red States where there is a sense of law and order. That is a huge mistake as to why they left Blue States in the first place.

Or maybe it's in part due to a loss of Latino votes for the Republicans.
And a suburban backlash to once-fringe conservative policies that have taken root in Tarrant County and Washington.

Trump blew it off
"These things happen"
While DeSantis shows concern
“Special elections are quirky and not necessarily projectable re: a general election,” DeSantis posted Sunday on the social platform X. “That said, a swing of this magnitude is not something that can be dismissed. Republicans should be clear-eyed about the political environment heading into the midterms.”

A Republican sponsored poll showed that people wanted Jasmine Crockett to run for senate. Apparently this poll was key in convincing her to join the race. Someone must be worried that James Talarico can win.
