What do you think lads?

I think "two weeks" is more like a term used in Mexico business when I worked with suppliers in Monclova and Monterrey.
"manana"
Nope doesn't mean tomorrow...means 'some indeterminate time in the future'

Given Trump's proclivities for false statements (and the outcomes of the little meeting they had in Alaska), excuse me if I take this claim with a grain of salt...
Quote:
"I personally asked President Putin not to fire on Kyiv and the cities and towns for a week during this ... extraordinary cold," Trump said during a Cabinet meeting at the White House, adding that Putin has "agreed to that."
"A lot of people said, ‘Don't waste the call. You're not going to get that,'" Trump said of his request of Putin. "And he did it. And we're very happy that they did it."
Russia has not confirmed the claim.

Seems talks are 'stalling' again...can't decide where to meet for the talks.
Meanwhile,

US President Donald Trump was "unsurprised" after Russia resumed intense attacks on Ukraine, ending a cold-weather pause he personally requested from Vladimir Putin, the White House said Tuesday.
"I spoke with the president about it this morning, and his reaction was, unfortunately, unsurprised," Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters outside the West Wing.
"These are two countries who have been engaged in a very brutal war for several years, a war that have would have never started if the president were still in office," she added.
|
Maybe Karoline alternate facts V2.0 might want to rephrase that?
"if the president were still in office"...did I miss a resignation?

Related....or at least I hope the Mods see it that way....
The last Nuclear arms agreement between Russia and the US expires today.
The gloves are fully off.
Neither country has any limits on what they can develop or deploy.
Neither side has any interest in starting new talks.
And China says "No fucking way" about participating in any either.
What could go wrong?

Yep
The New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (New START) was set to end Feb. 5 after Trump declined to take an offer from Russia to keep observing the treaty’s limits for an additional year to allow time to negotiate how to move forward.
But don't worry...Trump's on it...

The United States is the most powerful Country in the World. I completely rebuilt its Military in my First Term, including new and many refurbished nuclear weapons. I also added Space Force and now, continue to rebuild our Military at levels never seen before. We are even adding Battleships, which are 100 times more powerful than the ones that roamed the Seas during World War II — The Iowa, Missouri, Alabama, and others. I have stopped Nuclear Wars from breaking out across the World between Pakistan and India, Iran and Israel, and Russia and Ukraine. Rather than extend “NEW START” (A badly negotiated deal by the United States that, aside from everything else, is being grossly violated), we should have our Nuclear Experts work on a new, improved, and modernized Treaty that can last long into the future. Thank you for your attention to this matter! PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP

Meanwhile the Russian aggression in Ukraine continues and peace talks flop...

After just three hours, Russia, Ukraine and the United States declared themselves done with the latest round of peace talks on Thursday, offering scant sign of progress toward ending a war that is nearing a fifth year despite the Trump administration’s diplomatic interventions.

While the end of the Treaty is a point to remember when discussing the Countdown to the end of the Ukraine War.
It brings a new dynamic to the discussions, Members should strive to return to the Original Topic.

Moscow Blames Ukraine After Wagner-Linked GRU General Shot in Moscow
Ukrainian-born Lt. Gen. Vladimir Alekseyev is a deputy to the chief of Russia’s military intelligence now heading Russia’s delegation in ongoing talks in the United Arab Emirates.
Russia accused Ukraine Friday of orchestrating an assassination attempt after Lieutenant General Vladimir Alekseyev, a top GRU officer born in Ukraine, was shot and hospitalized in a Moscow apartment building.
|
More intrigue. Why would Ukraine attempt to take out the head of the 'ongoing talks leader'?
After the Wagner/Putin falling out, could this be left over grudge? Or does Putin think this guy was not following his bidding in the talks?

The U.S. has given Ukraine and Russia a June deadline to reach a deal to end the nearly four‑year war, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told reporters, as Russian strikes on energy infrastructure forced nuclear power plants to cut output on Saturday.
|
Oooh...
Quote:
|
If the June deadline is not met, the Trump administration will likely put pressure on both sides to meet it, he added.
|
...I will taunt you again...
Too bad Trump didn't meet his deadline (s)...maybe his administration can 'put more pressure' on him.
Alaska meeting turned out to be rather a bust, too.
Meanwhile
Russian strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure continued with over 400 drones and about 40 missiles launched overnight Saturday, Zelenskyy said in a post on X. Targets included the energy grid, generation facilities and distribution networks.

The best outcome would have been busting putin and shipping him straight to the Hague.

Trump is giving Ukraine and Russia a deadline to end the conflict.....?
One of the strangest statements made by Trump during this whole affair.
