where to get auto body fix...

alright so i just got this car not even a month or so ago and i was in a car accident yesterday. i fucked up the hood and the fan inside and thats about it. it had a mechanic come and fix the fan, he said the hood would be fine and i wouldnt have to worry about it flying up....low and behold i was drivingonthe interstate and my hood flys up and hits my window. scared the shit out of me so i put on my blinkers and stop at cvs to see if i can find any chords to hold it down, i find some and put then where i thought they needed to be....AGAIN it flys up and hits my window. so now not only do i need a new hood but a new front window...i dont know anything about cars but do any of you guys know where i could get these replaced? its not an expensive car (96 mits galant). i only payed 1900 for it so im not trying to spend a fortune.
if anyones knows a good body shop or where i can get these parts i would appreciate. the car drives fine its just physically all fucked up
thanks |

This one is easy .... Maaco! Don't listen to all the haters that will chime in ... they did/do great work for me for unbeatable prices.
If you need help I would be happy to call the owner of the one I go to and tell him you are a friend of mine. I am sure he would cut you a price break.

They are all over town, but the one I have experience with is off 288 & Old Spanish Trail.

			hope you're ok mandy
the windshield is easily replaceable anywhere in town looking at between $150-200 for parts and services

 here's my recommendation

Atlas Auto Glass Repair and Body Shop
 Downtown/Galleria
 716 Fairview
 (East of Montrose)
 Houston
 713-520-1844

as far as the hood goes best bet is to call around the junkyards and see if they have any old mitsubishi galants...
its a crapshoot but you just might luck out and get it for dirt cheap... outside of that the hood panel usually costs
about another $150-$200 alone, service and labor would probably be another $150 for installation and alignment,
maybe more if they need to mould it and paint if you wanted that too.

maaco can probably do the work for cheaper, but since this is looking to be outright replacement of parts
the parts will still cost about the same

Yo Bee Dub,

We don't necessarily hate Macco, they definitely serve a specific market, and do it well.

The last time Macco came up was as a reference to re-paint / repair a very classic car. Definitely not their forte.

Sorry you wrecked your car Mandy.
Macco is fine for slapping together an old beater, for a classic car you plan to keep for a long period of time not so much. So you can either listen to BW or a bunch of guys that might have worked in the car business for decades...

That was a shot at me Mandy, never mind WW's hatefulness.

Since leaking windshield can ruin your car, spend another $20 and go to a GOOD place to put in the windshield AFTER you get the body work and paint job done.

Find the thread on MACCO for additional comments.

BW suggesting that you are wrong, which is all to often the case is not a shot at you. Would you like me to remind you what a shot at you really looks like? There are 47 threads worth of material...
Maaco is fine for repairing Mandy's 12 year old Gallant, so don't get your panties all in a wad just yet. She is way to sharp to have you take her under your wing, so just move along to your next future associate. The fact that you are what you are and some of us pointed it out doesn't make us haters, just honest. Every time you go down this track the train ends up hitting you, just saying.
