The Clinton people looked into the issue, saw that it was a none issue, and moved on. Not needing any proof for the non-issue to become an issue again, the birthers picked up the discarded ploy and ran with it.
Obama is accused of all these different Machiavellian plots to hide his truth in one way or another. You ignore the fact that a possible nominee for 2016's campaign staff intentionally left a loaded gun, complete with "pull me" on the trigger to be found by the moron branch of the conservative party. They picked the gun up and shot themselves in the foot by way of transiting their balls.
It certainly left a mark.
So Hillary's staff found the issue, analyzed it, discarded it where birthers could find it and then sat back and watched the fireworks.
