Assuming for the sake of argument that President Obama was in fact a Muslim -- one hell of a big fucking assumption -- how the fuck is that a "grievance?" A Muslim, a Jew, a Buddhist, an agnostic or an athiest has every bit as much right to be President of the United States as does a Muslim.

Or have all you right wingers cut out this little section in your copy of the Constitution: . . . but no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States"?

Surely you're not that dense. Where...in this enitre thread...did someone say some religious qualification was required for service?

It is not a requirement for a candidate to be honest either. But can the question be asked if they are? It is not a requirement for them to not be a lawyer either. But can the question be asked if they are? It is not a requirement for them to be of an age that will increase their probability of being able to finish their term. But can the question be asked of they are?

Several of you have made it clear that you think religious preference is irrelevent. I think you'll find that is a minority view. But don't try to turn the question into statements not made. You're not that clever.

Is it relevent to make a person's religious preference something they are not?

Making the POTUS something they are not is an old game to radical fringe elements in America. In the 1860's, the radical fringe claimed that Abe was a Roman Catholic (yikes, so am I). In the 1930's and 1940's the radical fringe claimed that FDR was Jewish. In the 1960's the radical fringe claimed that if JFK became President, the Pope would be making all of the important decisions in America. (There is the Roman Catholic animosity rearing its ugly head once again)

The history books have yet to uncover any documented evidence that would indicate that Lincoln was a Roman Catholic, FDR was Jewish or the Pope made JFK's decisions.

In case you have not been paying attention, the radical fringe is at it again!

Whatever foolish notions people may posses, Obama's religion, or even any lies about it (if you're fucking dumb enough to swallow that shit) has no "redress" at the hands of the government. The redress of any real or imagined offenses in that regard lie at the ballot box, not in the hands of the government. You'd think that you people hollering for less government would understand that.

This far into into the thread...it depends.

Obama is/is not a Muslim = a factual question...no doubt. He is or he isn't.

Why the media "covers up" one way or the other...
Whether or not it matters if Obama is/is not...

Those are questions of opinion to which I thought we were both referring when it comes to our respective characterizations of defending the rights of the ignorant to spew forth...

My personal $.02.... If anybody states as fact something that clearly is not so...by all means...demand the source for the assertion.

When you "graduate" (and I use that term VERY loosely) into the realm of opinion...it becomes more a matter of, "why do you say that? what leads you to hold that opinion?"

IF the knucklehead in question will answer those types of questions, THEN perhaps a dialog can occur which will benefit all those that care to follow along.

THIS just seems to be another case of the original poster rolling a grenade under the door & then refusing to discuss the matter further. Others have leaped to his defense.

Put another way, as my "John Mellencamp" proclaimed...

"Love between the ugly is the most beautiful love of all..."

I don't think Caliphate Obama is Muslim but the perception of it is his problem. In the recent Pew Poll, 10% of Dems believe the prophet Barack (pbuh) is Muslim.
 http://pewforum.org/Politics-and-Ele...-Muslim.aspx#1 shows a a complete break down.

Perhaps if he wouldn't endorse the Victory Mosque near Ground Zero, he would not have that problem.

Yeah, that's been all over the news. Makes good fodder. If anyone actually reads closer:

Results for this survey are based on telephone interviews conducted under the direction of Princeton Survey Research Associates International among a national sample of 3,003 adults living in the continental United States, 18 years of age or older, from July 21-Aug. 5, 2010 (2,002 respondents were interviewed on a landline telephone, and 1,001 were interviewed on a cell phone, including 431 who had no landline telephone).

Wooo boy! Glad the 3000 speak for the 300,000,000 Americans. I love a good poll.

It seems the poll is of dems...and there ain't 300MM of them.

I guess you must not believe in any poll then...because all polls are just a mere subset of the total. Sounds to me like CT's "pounding of the table".

I just knew you'd come back with a snappy remark...and you didn't fail.

Some polls are more reliable than others. The way the questions are framed, the random survey, the areas surveyed, etc. I think Gallup has a good rep among pols because they tend to be accurate and deliver pretty good subsets of opinions. The Pew folks, I think, tend to have a pretty good reputation for unbiased and neutral poll-taking. I would be as wary of a FoxNews poll as I would be of a CNN poll. IMHO, news organizations spin the poll in a way so that it generates more viewers (or, in yesteryear, sold papers). After all, viewership = ad $$$$.

BTW, a poll of Highland Park would be much different than Oak Cliff.

i used to do some statistical sampling

it is a science

a relatively small sample size will reveal attributes of a population to a confidence level of 95% or more

really what that means is 95% of the time the sample will include the true mean of the population

the trick in opinion sampling is the wording of the question

it is a science

a relatively small sample size will reveal attributes of a population to a confidence level of 95% or more

really what that means is 95% of the time the sample will include the true mean of the population

the trick in opinion sampling is the wording of the question

This is where you and the crew are having a hard time following the bouncing ball. The fallacy is in the second question. Obama is not a Muslim (answer to the first question) , therefore the factual reason the media isn't reporting that he is a Muslim is because he isn't!

Now if you (not you but the preverbal you) believe in UFO's from another planet then then you could ask the some question of the so called MSM. Why aren't they covering the invasion of our planet from UFO's?

Those two question are similar. You have to be a nut job to even consider answering the second question. In other words the correct answer to the first question eliminates the need for the second....except for the political loons! Evidently there are quite a few that think that Obama is a Muslim. They think we staged a lunar landing and Bush was involved in 9/11.

I will defend their right to be ignorant and hope they are smart enough to appreciate it!
