We're a Nation of Wusses... Guess How Many Americans Died in 1918/19 Spanish Flu Epidemic?

US Fatalities from Spanish Flu (1918/19): Approx. 600,000
US Fatalities to Date from Coronavirus (2020): 0

From Wikipedia:
The World Health Organization estimates that 2–3% of those who were infected died (case-fatality ratio). It is estimated that approximately 30 million were killed by the flu, or about 1.7% of the world population died...
This flu killed more people in 24 weeks than HIV/AIDS killed in 24 years...

In the U.S., about 28% of the population of 105 million became infected, and 500,000 to 675,000 died (0.48 to 0.64 percent of the population).

Our Fear and Outrage Are Oddly Selective...

Is anyone here even aware of the fact that we lose nearly 70,000 Americans a year from drug overdoses?
Where is the context? Where is the sense of proportion?

Why does the lamestream media freak out over the coronavirus (US fatalities to date=0) and ignore the national drug scourge that each year kills more Americans than died during the entire Vietnam War? https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/...aths-fall.html |

Cancer and heart disease each kill over 600k Americans a year.

But we've made big strides lately in improving the mortality rates (i.e. extending the life expectancies) of those two leading killers. Nowadays the victims are already old and frail.

By contrast, drug overdoses are killing off our YOUNG people. Yet the fake news media act like it's more important to impeach trump than it is to beat the opioid epidemic. Now they've gone all-in playing up the global "covid-19" pandemic - even though it has yet to cost us a single American life. Sensationalism sells better than putting things into proper historical perspective. Why bother to stack it against the 1918/19 Spanish flu, or more recent deadlier flu waves, or the ongoing (and largely ignored) opioid crisis?

Another down play.Since the numbers don't matter it's no big deal if you and yours are some of the first to go.
After all, your family is nowhere near the number list 100 years ago you cocksucking piece of shit.
Yep, it looks like 40 to 42% of our population are worthless wussies.

 Now STFU.

Try to speak intelligibly so people can understand your point, if you have one.

The numbers DO matter - is that your point?

In the US, the Spanish flu is ahead 600,000 to zero.

And you're a wuss. Just like all dim-retards, you want to turn the whole nation into wussies.

Let's all take a step back from name calling, the Swine Flu outbreak of 2009 took nearly a half a million lives in a year and a half but most of us hardly remember that happening. The Spanish Flu would to calculated for 100 years of population growth; the population has grown four times larger. 28% of the US population became infected which would be just about 100 million people today. More than 500,000 died or we could forecast a million and a half deaths (US population has increased by a factor of three). In 1918 the fast spread was caused by all the troops coming home from World War I. The first recorded case was in France and the first in the US was in Kansas. Both were concentrations of military activity. We have a loonngg way to go before this resembles the Spanish Flu.
