Suicide is a permanent solution to the temporary problem. If you kill yourself, you have lost the game. Nothing in this world is worth dying for because we were all created to live our lives.

Another awesome post Jordan! The first two are especially hard.. what the hell would I do at 11:45?
How about this one: “If you could be with anyone and be doing anything at this very moment, what would you do, and with whom?”
or
“Do you chase your dreams and bliss? Or do you settle for whats “easy” and “comfortable”? Would this change if failure was impossible?”
P.S: I got the website up!!! You were right, I loved every minute of it! So far it seems people like it! Can’t wait to keep building it up! Check it out!

i am sorry but nothing can make me take my own life. i have read the suicide clause in my life insurance and i darn sure want my kids and family to get all they can from my life.

of course there are some scenarios that might make one think, but because im broke is not one. plenty of people have hit rock bottom and made it to the top or merely started journey upward.

Obviously, it's past time for me to start focusing south.

Great writers like William Styron have tried to describe it and failed. But do some reading. Then, perhaps, you'll have a better understanding.
+1 to this.

The normal mind will never understand the Hell that a depressed mind is going through..

It is a place you never want to go to and once you are in it is very difficult to come out of..

I have had alot of experience in this, family and friends last year two of my firends one ex who was still a friend and a associate who I guess I considered a friend ended there lives, very sad... Last year back home now to think of it, there was a lot of sucides back home. Also back home on the settlement alot of my family have issues with drinking and they will make the decision or they will pass out on train tracks and well a train comes. I think that at the time they are mentally and emotionally broken or there on a influance and just are not thinkiing right its very selfish for people to do it and leave us behind but were not in there head and well never know why or there thought process in doing it, its sad but a part of life.

And I being a manic depressive with anxiety and other things I have had the thought, but then my kids and mom and all come into mind and I never want my kids to have to explain why there moms not around. Theres a way to beat it, you just have to not use your mental illness as a crutch and justify what you do or how you act, if you know you have a problem theres meds out there which are not a cure all but sometimes people need that little extra help and quit feeling sorry for them selves and quit trying to get sympathy for it.

I agree with this. Severe depression can be very very painful. Having been though that before I can see how one could rationalize taking that final step.

Really, no one has the right to take their own lives. I may not be an angel but I believe there's only one who can take a person's life.

Great day ahead!

Like TTH mentioned, I have also had depression and took such medication as lexapro, wellbutron and pristiq. It didn't help, if anything I think it made it worse. Counseling from a professional or perhaps a religious type from your church is much better than medication. I got to the point I had to stop taking the medication and it was kinda of rough at first but now I feel much better along with some counseling, and not to mention reading some good books.

But, as bad as things got for me, the thought of actually killing myself was never an option I seriously considered. I am Roman Catholic, and I was always told if you kill yourself you will be damned for eternity. And, I know as bad as things are here on Earth, the thought of burning in hell is going to much worse. LOL. Maybe its a silly thing to an atheist or other religions, but it has kept me from ever getting to that brink.

I know a few people in my life that have committed suicide, and my brother attempted it three times. Some people call suicide the cowards way out. I know the effect of the family and friends of those that commit suicide and that's another reason why I couldn't go through with it. I wouldn't want to put them through it. The third time my brother tried to commit suicide, I wasn't sad for him any longer, I was very angry with him because he was making my parents miserable and helpless.

Very well said.. I think this is a very good topic. I agree with Texrich about medication. Although meds may work for some, I believe in alternate choices and solutions. I think the most common symptom of depression or bipolar disorder is lonlieness or feeling you are alone in this problem. Those who suffer need to know that it is far more common than one might think. Take it from some one who knows, those who suffer from depression/bipolar can be the most stubborn. Not making a joke out of it, but it is hard to convince someone who is that far down that there are better days to come. I for one, never thought I would make it to the place I am today. Now very grateful and take full advantage of every breath, I make sure my smile shows. Happieness is overlooked in our common day lifestyle and sometimes even taken for granted.

LOL..I often get asked alot why I smile so much, I can honestly say because I am happy. There is nothing more I can go through in my life, that I haven't already.Once that far down, there is no where to go but up.You have to believe that!
If someone you know is suffering from deppresion, all you can do is let them know you are there for them. Call and check on them once in a while.Just don't write them off as a lost cause. It is very serious. Friends and family are important.

A little something personal about me...
I had to put down the bottle.
After I could do that,
and church every sunday.
Everything worked itself out.

Trust me,nothing is that bad!!

My mother commited suicide when in was 18. Shot herself in the next room from where I was. In about a week it will have been 19yrs.

She has missed out on a lot of wonderful moments, but I wouldn't change what happened if I could. Its made me who I am and actually changed my life for the better. Sounds strange but in retrospect she was a very negative influence on my life as a parent. Very codependent and insecure, always some story, some excuse, some reason why everyone else had to sacrifice for her happiness. The way in which she chose to leave helped me eventually see how not to live my life so I wouldn't end up doing the same things to my child(ren).

Depression is a disease like diabetes or cardiovaacular disease brought on my chemical imbalances. It is a medical problem first and foremost and should be treated as such. Holistic practises do apply.

I think different cultures see suicide differently precisely because they are different cultures and see most everything differently: government, class-systems, religion, gender roles. Just because some cultures glorify it doesn't make it glorious. .02
