Ya I was posting while she was and missed it. I edited my post once I read that.
I hope she gets back in school and that sweet baby can be with his/her mommy again.
Okay then this is all I have to say:
Mallory,
It's never too late to make significant and real change in your life. As long as you are still breathing there is a chance for anything. Don't let life take you places you know inside are wrong. Take life minute by minute if you have to, but make better choices for yourself. Don't get trapped into situations you can't get out of. You are a smart woman. You can push yourself to do anything that you set your mind to. Set your mind on getting in school and don't let anything change it. Make it impossible to fail. Most people in this lifestyle think its impossible to succeed so they don't. Make it impossible to fail and you won't. I promise you.
I really am pulling for you. No one can help you now but you though. I will be happy to bring the shelter some food later today. I can't right now but I will bring some food there later if you want to pm the name of the shelter or have the people there email me to arrange a drop off after I confirm it is indeed a legit shelter. If it needs food that badly, I'm willing to help.
I'm terribly sorry you are going through this. Please don't give up and do your best to believe in the good things that are possible. Don't stay stuck in this cycle.
Very sincerely,
Jaime

I'd encourage you to go further than this. Go down to the office and sit in the waiting room, every day. Advocate for yourself. It's your life, take charge of it. Squeaky wheels get grease. A on line application doesn't squeak as much as a human being with a face and a respectful but persistent attitude sitting in your waiting room every day does.

Yes....if you do go in person, they will give you emergency food stamps today.
As far as helping out with food. She is another human being and I had no issue helping. If it's true she is "gaming" that is on her. Not me.
People have been kind to me in my hour of need and this is just my way of paying it forward.

Mallory, I'm not seeing a bashing. I'm seeing only support, and one member who simply isn't recognizing the traits of a woman in dire need, thus calling BS. Playing the victim only makes you victimized. You likely qualify for emergency food stamps.
Folks are skeptical, and have fair grounds to be, new pieces and info is resurfacing behind the scenes which adds to the skepticism along with a lack of proactivity, merely going online.
How will you keep the meat fresh with no fridge? Also, some shelters may not accept outside food for liability reasons. No, I'm not "bashing" you, and as far as other ladies asking for help, I only recall you from six months ago -this is now a pattern.
Best of luck to you.

I personally find that distasteful, but I can't really say it's wrong. Even Mother Teresa expected the people she helped to do things like come to mass when they could and baptizing them before they died.
On balance, food with strings is usually better than no food. And when you're hungry, or your baby is hungry, that's an easy choice.
Good luck Mallory. There are some good services available to help women and children in your situation. Please don't be afraid to seek them out. Everything from housing and food to childcare and job training can be found. You can start with a call to 311 where you can talk to a real person who will help you find the right organisations/government offices.

The best type of help is self help.
By the way, the number is 211.

Grace I have to agree with you. I did help the OP I took her to Walmart and she bought food. What she's does from the point of me dropping her off is not on my conscious.
But it is a slap in a face to be still asking others to pm her and "help"
That's on her..not me.
Rant over lol

If you are at a shelter then there should be some entity there that can assist you in getting food and getting help. I am guessing you have your baby with you, right? Not to sound callous, but that baby is your ticket to the best food clothing and shelter the state has to offer. Hell, it is your ticket to free everything, including an education.
When I was a single mother of two in nursing school, it took me a few months before I realized I needed financial help to make it thru the program and I was absolutely astonished at how much the state and school offered to pay for me once I broke down and applied for it - they even paid for my transportation to and from school! It was REALLY incredible. Texas helps single moms so much when they are in need. I didn't like having to ask for help, but once I finally did I was so grateful for the support.
You need the right kind of support, not little things to get you by day by day. The shelter should be able to get you to the local welfare office. Go fill out their paperwork and they will get you immediate, reliable help. Tell them you want to go back to school and they will practically hold your hand thru the hole process. I'm telling you, Texas is amazing in this respect. They want to help single moms succeed.
There is also the option of going into a program for providers who want to leave the sex work industry. Again, because you have a baby, they will be more inclined to help you if you really want help. I'm not saying that you should stop providing but if you can't feed yourself or get diapers for your baby, as was the previous case, then maybe it's time to try something different.
I'm sorry you are going thru this and hope you find the help that you really need rather than a bunch of small handouts that just mask the underlying problem. Please go to TANF as BSB suggested. At the very least they will give you WIC vouchers for you and the baby.
You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

That is some really good information and advise. This thread raises some questions.
When I lived in Dallas before, I taught self defense at a battered women's shelter by the Dallas Zoo. These women lived in the shelter with their children. All of their basic needs were met.
I can't imagine a shelter that doesn't provide food. How are they supposed to eat? If they had money, they wouldn't be there.
Tara, to her credit, brought baby wipes and diapers but the child has been with CPS for two months.
I might be willing to help but I remain skeptical.

I must have missed this. If you have additional information, you should be more specific.

You're not? You've spoken to at least 2 people this morning, including myself. And I'm sure we were not the only ones you asked for help from this morning. What you need to understand is that those of us who are typically giving and generous to those in true need... also talk behind the scenes. When things aren't on the 100.. or stories don't add up... we throw up the stop sign. Simple as that.
Kaylee and Bridgette-- you both have giving hearts and I would never bash someone for helping someone else with things like food. I almost did the same thing myself.... you never go wrong with helping.
