The reason she probably doesn't want you to tell anyone is because she doesn't offer the discount to everyone! She is offering it to you because she likes you and doesn't want other clients saying "Well you saw this guy for a lower rate, why can't you see me for that rate too?"
As one lady has already said, a provider offering a discount to a client she likes is totally different from a client pestering a provider for a discount, as if she is not worth the rate she has requested. That is insulting.
A client should NEVER EVER assume that just because its okay to negotiate with one provider, its okay to negotiate with ALL providers. We are not just slightly differentiated products. We are people with our own unique preferences that should be respected.

Well said Miss James, I agree ..directly offering a special "directly" to a client should be a compliment that she wanted to see you vs running a specials ad to just anyone.
Ive been lucky that Ive only ran across someone asking if I had specials twice . I politely said no but advised him that there were others that do and could accommodate his needs. He wanted to see me anyway but it was a turn off to me that he would ask.

Its all in the marketing. Target the market that will pay your rate and you wont worry about hagglers.. Be consistant in your pricing as well, all over the place opens it up to haggling.
I also think its good business to run "specials" sometimes. IMO. I actually do one special a month.. I also discount for longer sessions as I prefer them. I never get hagglers, NCNS, etc.. Im going to jinx myself now.. lol knock on wood!

I agree, "free" and or next to nothing is for wife, girl or office quickie not a professional lady. I think they have other sources, like hand. Its not fair to pressure us like has been going on.

I don't bargain, but if some nasty fat skank is charging 250 and an attractive woman is charging the same thing, the former better get her head examined.

Isn't wonderful that we all define beauty differently.

Hmm. I was not trying to imply that anyone needed explaining as to why men haggle. Just pondering a bit on the practice in general. It aggravates the hell out of me sometimes in my own business.

Charles. . . A discount is something you get when you see a lady more than once, she likes you, and doesn't mind spending time with you!!

That's where most hobbyists have me...I don't see a lady more than once, I have no idea whether or not they like me (probly not), and I'm certain they'll mind spending time with boring ole "one shot" me.

But it's your shot and that's all that matters.

Just say no
Sadly, I Learned my lesson about this early on. In the long run, bargaining will only cause headaches. If you give an inch, they will take a mile. You spend more time arguing about rates and it isn't worth it. That being said, If I have a loyal regular, I will hook him up from time to time. (not necessarily a freebie) but extra time, maybe a discounted visit.
Unfortunately, it HAS to be on my terms or it creates a big cluster(*^% for future communication.

Most salespeople I have spoken to agree on the fact that the hagglers end up being the biggest pains in the rear - and at the end of it all they can be so difficult to deal with that one wonders if the profit made is worth the bullsh*t one is put through.
I agree with that and this is not the only biz I have ever run or participated in.
And I can see by the other answers I'm not the only lady that is put out by the mere mention of a discount. That's why I just push the reject button when it gets mentioned. I don't want to have a bad attitude with a client....so if I have a bad attitude about you then you're not gonna be my client.
