The CIA put Saddam into power. and we took him out. The war was a fiasco built more on the fact that Saddam tried to assassinate Bush Senior than any evidence of WMD's or anything that happened on 9/11/2001.

/sarcasm on

" I got him Dad! " lets not think about the trillion dollars, 4500 dead troops, even more disabled troops, and all those dead Iraqi people.

Exclamation Poor Leader

You hit the nail squarely on the head BM.

The cowboy from Crawford had it in for Saddam from the start because of the assassination attempt and came into office gunning for him for any excuse.

It is the mark of a poor leader who puts a priority on his personal grudges at the expense of the country he is supposed to lead.

. . . Now we are all paying for his mistakes and trying to clean up the horrible mess he left behind, but at least that dark chapter in our history is over.

Obama promised to have us out of Afghanistan and Iraq within one year of taking office. He lied. He also lied about closing Gitmo, and now, in fact, he has opened Gitmo to American citizens arrested on American soil suspected of being terrorists with no judicial review.

Thanks for nothing, Mr. President.
I guess maybe you have not been reading and listening to the news lately. Obama promised to have us out under certain conditions and those are yet to be met. You are right that we are withdrawing on a timetable set by Bush so kudos to obama for seeing that plan through.

On him lying about gitmo, ask the republican congressmen who blocked him from closing it since they did not want the prisoners to have access to our good old american justice system, fearing that all those bush era crimes would have to be investigated if they got real justice, so dont lay the blame on obama for that.

On ending the war in a year, he did end hostile involvement and ramped down the activities, so what if it took him longer to do so in a responsible manner? he still did close it. I want a president whose heart is in the right place and does his best, like he did. I think he promised Iraq, maybe am wrong but i think he said he would focus on afghanistan so we can end that too, but did not give a timeline on Afghanistan.

I was all for invading Iraq back when Bill Clinton and the Democrats told us Saddam had WMDs....

Very sad that it was lie after GWB did something about it.

I don't know how you Cut and Run Libs can look yourselves in the mirror.

I guess only Vampires and blood sucking Democrats don't have a reflection.

Exclamation Damage

It was actually Bush who insisted that Saddam had WMDs.

Incredibly, he also said that he was very sad when no such weapons were found.

I could not believe he actually said that publicly.

That is the height of ignorance and stupidity.

It's like saying "I'm sad because my bullshit excuse for invading a country proved to be total bullshit".

The sad irony is that Bush did much more damage to this country than Saddam ever did or could have done.

I specifically said the Administration, not GW. The actual quote was from Dick Cheney. Was Cheney a part of the Administraion? Yes or no?

What I did say in the first post in this thread was "two of the principle reasons used by the Administration to justify the invasion of Iraq." Of course that did not suit LL's purpose. It is not a surprise because where "the most unpopular (and incompetent) President in modern history" (GW) is concerned LL will always defend him to the greatest degree possible. Even if he has to steeeeeeeeeeeeeetch the truth in order for the ends to justify his highly questionable means.

LL has never let the truth and/or facts stand in the way of the story he would like to tell.

Dana Milbank quoted Dick Cheney in a June 2004 Washington Post story. Iraq is the "geographic base of the terrorists who had us under assault now for many years, but most especially 9/11."

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...2004Jun17.html

Yep, that appears to be a direct quote from the "Administration." Just as I said prior to LL's attempt to distort the facts. WTF else is new?

Conservatives are as much about control and power as the liberals are.

cute old guy

Obama NEVER promised to have us out of Afghanistan within a year. Wrong! In fact, he stated that was where Bush should have been involved with after 9-11. Get your fact straight before becoming a Bush apologists!

Lets get the hell out of Afghanistan and then elect Bachwoman as president, so we can start another war, this time with Iran.

I wonder if the USA could have a lets say 20 year period without any war going on, or would people or government kind off .......... feel restless because there was no war going on?
I mean, WW2, Korea, Vietnam, Grenada, Iraq-Kuwait, Kosovo, Iraq, Afghanistan, maybe Iran next year ................
Isn't it time for a break, like 50 years or so for the next one??

Rumor has it that Rasmussen regularly includes each Republican member of Congress, both House and Senate as a part of the "1500 likely voters." I suppose they are correct, they are likely voters!

That certainly gives them a good start!
