We've discussed our feelings on the enthusiasm factor vs polling and I lean heavily toward enthusiasm having a large influence on election day.

And I do agree that any excuses on attendance right now are largely knee jerk reactions. I am disappointed that the expectation was way over hyped and do think Trump is going to take an immediate hit over it.

And I also do not discount the "fear" component as you mentioned somewhere before. Fear is a form of enthusiasm that shouldn't be discounted and the media is doing a spectacular job at ginning up "fear" of Trump in the liberal base.

Tulsa was in no way an overall positive for Trump.

I don't think that explains it. Trump supporters are as enthusiastic as ever. There's a lot of truth in what he said: “I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn't lose any voters."

Expectations for the number of attendees were pumped up by TikTok users and K-pop fans, who requested hundreds of thousands of tickets but never intended to show up:

Still in normal times I bet he would have done a lot better than the 6200 attendees. You can tribute the low turn out to the wisdom of Trump supporters, who weren't anxious to show up to an indoor venue that they expected to be packed tightly with people without masks who would be shouting and cheering. Shouting and cheering throws more coronavirus into the air than talking.

In other words, only a minority of Trump supporters are bat shit crazy.
