I've just got a moment from work to read the thread as it has gone off its purpose. I still disagree with wlhrgfan, even if he thinks etiquette is naive.

What bothers me about this thread is how far and quickly the discussion devolved from the original purpose of the post: She's looking for a GB. It's a simple request.

She's not polling members on their personal opinions of the fantasy, nor intending to initiate a discussion on the merits of GB, nor wanting people to reprove a poster for an insensitive comment, nor encouraging people to defend the freedom of negative expression, nor wanting emotional support, etc. These all could be in other threads devoted to such topics.

Rather, the simple inquiry deserves constructive responses about where the possibilities are: who does it, who wants to participate, how to go about organizing the event, getting the event pinned down, or whatever. That is what should have been in this thread, rather than some "meta discussion" after about 2 pages.

(It is interesting however to see how much it has gotten everyone to respond--not much of which is helpful to the original poster in the least--a whole thread could be devoted to analyzing why you all are making this such a long thread.)

This simple request probably should have been posted in ISOs rather than in Coed Discussion. We should treat it thus: Those who want to help SummerWaves out, start talking and working out the details ... .

It's not off thread at all its been back on track for awhile now...Besides I don't think etiquette is naive I think people that don't think any opinion is allowed is...I went fishing for certain trolls and caught the ones I wanted...The GB blast was the bait for the catch...I could give a crap who GB's and who doesn't.

No, the truth is I went looking for a troll on purpose and certain trolls did not disappoint...And as I suspected they wouldn't and did not...It doesn't take balls to be a troll it just takes limited mental potential and instability, along with a big mouth that perpetually mutters insignificant thoughts and words on a continual basis. But don't worry even trolls find providers that will eventually put up with one too, eventually...
