Tesla Suffers Worst Sales Decline In History As Q1 Deliveries Plummet
Musk’s missteps, tariffs, lowered production, and souring consumer sentiment bring a perfect storm to the EV auto maker

Are you really telling us that Musk’s politics had nothing to do with the fall in sales of his products?

It couldn't have anything to do with the death of fully E cars, and a more realistic approach of building more hybrids???
If I had the cash, I'd buy a Tesla, just to be a dick on the street.
For real world use, no.

Sorry. Devo. All 3 EV markets grew last quarter, while Tesla declined.
That doesn't match up with fictional "the death of fully EV cars" yarn. U.S. EV sales were up over 11% in April vs last April.
Txdot is correct in highlighting Musk's political positions and prominence as a major reason why they're missing out on the growth
Take Quebec for example. An 87% drop in the largest EV market in Canada. That's not a stat to ignore or downplay

Quebec?
I'm more concerned about the amount of fat in my cheese, and less concerned about getting free charges from Quebec Hydro.

Because ultimately it's down to the subsidies, and who profits most.

When profits dropped 71% the answer is clearly... not Tesla

You shouldn’t bother until you know what you’re talking about. Like I said before, there’s more competition now. It’s the biggest cause for their declining sales;
Stiff Competition From Global Players
One of the biggest reasons for Tesla's sales slump is increasing competition, especially from Chinese EV manufacturers like BYD. Once seen as a challenger, BYD is now outselling Tesla in some key markets. In April 2025, BYD sold more electric vehicles in Europe than Tesla for the first time ever. This marks a significant shift in consumer preference and highlights how Tesla is losing ground, particularly outside its stronghold markets.
Chinese automakers are aggressively expanding with a wide range of affordable, well-equipped EVs. These vehicles often offer better value for money, especially in price-sensitive regions. As a result, Tesla's relatively higher-priced models are no longer the obvious choice for many buyers.
The amount of people who won’t buy a Tesla because of Musk’s politics is minimal. But then again, Libtards are commies so buying a Chinese car makes sense!!!!!

TxDot and I recognize that the politics plays in along with the competition. The erosion of good will because of Musk are yet another reason folks have turned away from Tesla.
It's an AND not an or. You push binary choice, while we permit multiple factors to be present.
Specifically the politics and Musk wave which fall under misteps, his association with the tariff regime, lowered production (eg. slashed orders plus Model Y retool), and souring consumer sentiment. These are major factors

Competition IS the major factor. More choices, lower prices. Yeah, there are a few Cheryl Crowes out there. Not enough to affect sales in any major way.

Typical right wing goals right there. You likely don't need a tesla.

That would be one less Tesla you can vandalize. Violence and property destruction are Libtard goals.

It cuts both ways Mr Gristle. Your view is myopic as usual;
But Tesla buyers are probably more conservative than that assumption would suggest.
Surveys show Tesla shoppers are only slightly more likely to be Democrats than Republicans.
Surveys by research firm Morning Consult show that in January about 22% of Democrats were considering buying a Tesla, while 17% of Republicans were looking to purchase one. And that gap has been closing — Republican consideration of buying a Tesla has risen about 3 percentage points just since December’s survey. And Republicans are slightly more likely to trust the Tesla brand, 27% compared to 25% among Democrats.
“The customer base is not significantly skewed towards Democrats,” said Lisa Whalen, Morning Consult’s auto and mobility analyst.

What view?
I shared a link to some facts regarding ongoing trends in Europe as the Tesla brand continued to suffer. It's a data point.
