The only ones left who won’t admit it are those hoping to escape the fact that their constant rhetoric is responsible for Kirk getting shot. It does give one hope that they can do better. Trying to weasel out of responsibility indicates that they don’t want to be seen as the violent radicals they are. Maybe just being a decent human being to begin with would be more effective, you wouldn’t need to try’n defend the indefensible at all.

Since when does it not matter who someone's family is? Who raised him? A bunch of MAGAs, that's who.
He didn’t just arrive here, fully formed, from another dimension. He was raised by natural-born, American citizens from the trump cult.
Selective patriotism is appalling. And this notion of "being at war" is something a very dangerous thing the right is trying to manifest into reality. This is what demagogues do and there's a rich history of that within groups like Turning Point, and the Groypers. Bannon and Jones. They'll use this as fuel and many a disaffected person will find meaning in that and lap it up.
We need a leader of all... with the audacity to inspire everyone. Not just less than half of us. Kirk won't be that rallying cry.
