It's both. You call it tribal politics; I call it bipolar politics (vs bipartisan). United we stand divided we fall.

You are at the center of it.

You are on the far right side and do nothing but scream about the idiotic left.

The biggest problem with politics is that the majority of the people do not know shit about it. They know sound bytes. That is evident throughout this forum. Maybe 5 posters have a clue about real solution....the rest of you are slogan driven.

You have the potential to make it six.

Start researching both sides of an issue and quit listening to Rush and Sean.

The way to end tribal politics is to do away with the tribes. Both parties are entrenched and can see nothing but their own power, and how to retain it. The Democrat and Republican tribes have to go. They are destroying this country.

You are a nieve Old Guy; as long as man exists there will always be tribes !

And the tribes within your Libertarian Party are as divided as the rest of us.

The Libertarian party, in general, divides over how much freedom to return to the people, the other parties divide over how much control over over our lives they want.

And what the hell is a "neive"?

A great deal of the causes are uncertainty and over regulation. To understand this you have to follow the dots. If you can't follow them or are unwilling to accept them I can't help you.
Someone said something about oil so here is a little thing. The Keystone pipeline has been in the works for years with the tacit approval of the US government. 3 billion dollars has been spent so far and that is quite an investment. Now, Obama says he doesn't want it after 3 years of indicating that he did want it. After 3 billion dollars Canada is going away. They proposed either going to China with the oil or shipping it from a terminal in Canada by rail to Louisiana. Who will make that money from shipping it by rail? Warren Buffet is one of the names that came up. Yes, the same Buffet who is close buddies with Obama. Can you say crony capitalism? What about the others involved? The environmentalists worry about the leakage. One tank car on a train wreck would leak more oil than a pipeline does and ships leak a certain amount of oil constantly. The safest way to move oil is by pipeline. Do pipelines leak? Probably, but that is the product that they are selling. They would fix any leaks. A tiny leak could drain a barrel of oil a day and over a year that would be 36,500 dollars whereas it would cost $10,000 to fix the leak. So do the math, it is cheaper to fix any leaks than let them go. Common sense.

Yes, but the current tribes have gotten way too big and have corrupted from within. It's time to move and let open minded, less intrenched individuals move the nation and the world forward.

Same side of the coin; within the Libertarian Party there are those who are pro life and those who are pro choice.........with equal fervor on both sides; one side argues they are protecting the rights of unborn, the other side argues they have the right to make individual choices regardless.........the tribes exist everywhere and your deceive yourself by saying such foolery otherwise.

term limits.

Stop allowing elected congressmen/women enough time in office to owe special interest groups LARGE favors that get repaid at taxpayer expense.

aka "less intrenched"

The problem isn't the "intrenched" politicans; but the over-bloated, over satiated, over centralized Federal bureacracies.............and the taxpayers who demand more nanny state govenment !

Reduce the size of the government (people and budgets) bring functions back to the states and the tribalism naturally diminishes.

This is so obvious, it's a shame you had to pointedly mention it. There's no hope for those who bought into 'Hope'.
