It's not about criminal's rights. The issue is to "lawfully enforce the law."

Am I the only one who thinks all this talk about being tough on crime is kind of funny on a hobby message board?

I too applaud the fact that the loving Mom stopped her son, and I hope the incident puts him on a path of making better choices and exhibiting more civil behavior. I don't agree with those hailing her as mother of the year.

Certainly there are many mothers in that community whose parental guidance and example resulted in their children never going there in the first place, or at least from not assaulting police officers.

It's true, hobbying and looting are 2 very different things. Politically, however, "tough on crime" just like zero tolerance doesn't have much room for sensible distinctions.

Personally I feel better without cops than with them, no matter what the crime is. This is again why the gun toting Korean shop owners in '92 impressed me so much.

Just heard 6 of the officers will be charged with homicide. Wow. Sacrificial lambs?

It made me sad to see a mother beating her child. Hitting is the lazy way out. Good parenting takes time, patience and setting by example. She hit her child because she saw he had a rock and was going to hit someone with it.
Stupid.

Sacrificial lambs ? No. At the very least they broke departmental policy by not securing him in a seatbelt.

Assaulting her child? She did no such thing. She excercised her right as a parent to punish her child. Her slaps were neither excessive or damaging

Stupid.

There is nothing wrong with fearing parents more than cops.
