The national inflation rate is hardly unrestricted. But it does exist so it affects most things. Especially relatively hi-tech, low volume, specialty equipment.

But that answer doesn’t fit the point (like the one on top of your head) that you misrepresent almost as well as jdouche does his.


You pretend the 1980 F-15 is the same as the current production model. The one which now carries 8 and will soon be capable of carrying 16 AIM-120 AMRAAMs


Hopefully you can see where this is going.


16 1980 F-15s armed with AIM-7 sparrows and AIM-9s flying along.

They turn on their radars to see what's going on.

They “see” a single aircraft way beyond the effective range of their AIM-7s that is heading away from them at 1000+ MPH.

They “see” 16 incoming missiles that suddenly turn on active radar.


They turn on their jammers but that don’t fool the slammers!


They don’t “see” the missiles switch to “Home on Jammer” mode.


With the high gee forces they are experiencing to evade the incoming missiles, they won’t see each other dropping out of the sky


16 1980 F-15s eat a Slammer.


We can change this scenario any way you want.

And oh, it’s a “fire and forget” weapon.


Some might say 1 taking out 16 is enough to justify the price increase. But the fire control computers, increased engine efficiency, increased speed, increased range, etc., etc.,


All that costs money.


And money means more to you than the lives of our pilots and the fate of our nation.

Sure would be nice to see something at least "tepid" from you.

I see that Munchkin's ignorace is on full display the last 24 hours. Still haven't owned up to that misquote about the amount of the defense budget I see.

Does anyone else think that faggoty blue font is annoying? Just another look inside that shriveled up thing he calls a soul.

I can see a future where the entire US air fleet is destroyed in a single engagement. That's right, all three planes by a larger number of inferior planes. Don't worry though, I see the former Confederate Air Force (now called the Commemorative Air Force) flies in to save the day with World War II fighters.

Speaking of which, did you know that the final dogfight scene in Independence Day had another ending. Instead of Randy Quaid (crazy as a bag of weasels) flying in with a F-18, he shows up with his old crop duster carrying a single air to air missile.
