The general outline is the DOJ and bank regulators are putting the screws to banks and other third-party payment processors to refuse banking services to companies and industries that are deemed to pose a “reputation risk” to the bank. Most controversially, the list of dubious industries is populated by enterprises that are entirely, or at least generally, legal. Tom Blumer’s extremely informative post summarizing what is known to date about Operation Choke Point reproduces the list, which includes things such as ammunition sales, escort services, get-quick-rich schemes, on-line gambling, “racist materials” and payday loans. Quite obviously, some of these things are not like the other; moreover, just because there are some bad apples within a legal industry doesn’t justify effectively destroying a legal industry through secret executive fiat.
And we cant even blame the Republicans.

In my 20 yrs employed by the entity that is now known as JPMogan-Chase, I have traveled the world, enjoyed multiyear expat assignments in the U.K. Hong Kong and Brazil ... met thousand of interesting/cool people (and a fair amount of assholes and global trash) and provided my family with a lifestyle and standard of living that this 1st generation college and graduate school survivor could not even begin to contemplate when I was starting out.... so while I most certainly agree the firm, like all other banks, airlines, government agencies, etc can be total fuckups, I ascribed that behavior to " the law of large organizations".... I no longer have any connections to the firm, but for me the overall experience was "more better than worse"

About 6-7 years ago there was a body rub lady working out of an apartment near Frankfurt and DNT. She would do doubles with a hot Latina that would include L1 and L2. The Latina had a RW job and it appeared the doubles gig was her only hobby connection.
One day I scheduled a late afternoon doubles session with them. The Latina was running late and we arrived at the same time.... she was wearing the signature navy skirt and French blue blouse! Hot Damn! I almost exploded right there! Chase been my bank since!

Another reason you're on my heroes list, lol. Is there any woman in DFW you haven't had an appointment with?

A long time ago, there was a woman who, for a while, worked at a major airline, as a ticket sales rep, I think (back in the days when airlines had ticket offices all over the place). I think it was Terri Brice. More than one guy "almost exploded right there" when she showed up in uniform, and some even nailed her while she was still in it.

Wells Fargo is the bank I hate, and for obvious reasons. I wouldn't bank there

I actually was "asked to resign" from Chase Bank in lieu of being terminated about 20 years ago. I still have employee checking lol.

Even having been forced to quit there BofA is 10x worse in my opinion. I fucking HATE that place. Wells Fargo can suck a big one too as far as I'm concerned. Watch some youtube videos of these legal criminals foreclosing on people's homes even though that made payments and it will turn your stomach.

If you ever have to deal with a bank under legal conditions, (ie death, etc), a local bank such as Frost can be much easier to work with. The big chains usually send anything out of the ordinary to a central office, where who the fuck knows how long it will take to see the light of day. This has been my experience on two different occasions.

What exactly is there to hate about a bank?? After I open an account hopefully I don't have to see them again. As long as they have a decent website, ATM's work, and they don't lose my money...all is well. The occasional loan I suppose but that's not often and I usually shop around for the best deal elsewhere.

I'll edit this because my original post wasn't so nice.

Sure if you work your 9-5, have direct deposit, get $40 from the ATM on Friday, and use your debit card at Kroger everything is wonderful.

Of course that is unless they decide in order to meet sales quotas they open fictitious accounts in your name that fuck up your credit.
Or if you have a relative die that has a POD account they STILL won't release the money to the beneficiary without a probated will (what's the point of a POD account then?)
Or if you purchased a cashier check from one big bank and deposit the cashier check at another big bank they STILL put a 5 day hold on the funds which defeats the purpose of the cashier check.
Being turds about simply depositing a check made out to a husband and wife into their joint checking account without both signatures even though you can write "for deposit only" and do the same thing.
How about 2008?

All the big banks suck....nothing but sharks. There's a reason why they're the biggest too. That is because they are the best at scamming, underhandedness, deflection, switch & bait, entrapment, and falsifications than the itty bitty banks....most of whom are now gone.

FYI....unless you need bank specific services like a safety deposit box or cashier's checks you can use a discount brokerage firm like Fidelity, Schwab, etc. They offer cash management accounts that have checking and debit/credit cards. There is normally no monthly fee and they usually waive ATM fees.
