Years ago it was put into law that cell phones have to have tracking ability.

Ever since some poor young girl, her best friend and both of their children were running from an abusive ex BF
On the phone with 911 while driving but because they couldn't track her and only had her panicky directions they didn't find them until after the ex had used his vehicle to push them in front of an oncoming train.

Since incidents like this were getting more common they ruled in the auto GPS locater on all cell phones.

We may not like it but I understand the reasoning behind it.

I call nans on most of th information in the link, but you absolutely need to check your google account and phone to make sure you are not loggin your location when you don't want too.

I don't deny that the Feds can gain access to almost any info they desire, local Leo's do not have the same capacity or the ability to get a warrant for such a broad brush search.
