Default now is a good time for a laugh?

Calm for a moment.....all great comments but don't blow a gasket anyone.

Go out and win an election and you can do what you will within the limits of the constitution. I suppose you have a right to complain but understand exactly what you are complaining about. You lost an election. Get over it.
Both sides lost in the last somehing in the last election and in the one before? Correct? And both sides win and loose each day. Part of the process?

The conservatives are trying to save our country. It is our country and not just yours.
Your version of what this county should be? Right now a lot of the country belongs to folks over seas - they hold a lot of our debt? Correct?
Get over it
...how about get on with it - straighten out the financial mess that both sides got us into, that has to be done by compromise.

NIPPER - I did not know that about you and it does not change my opinion about you one bit.

I am going to celebrate my country this weekend. Not my state which I feel has come under a regime where the leaders address each other for example like Herr Kobach or Herr Brownback. The little sign or sticker Jude or at the least the Spanish equivalent is not far behind us.
But this one is a little far out? No one has that much power here yet? But there are many problems in this country and nation.

Stacy
If someone is illegal, they have no business voting in our elections.

And again, the Tea Party stands for limited gov't, fiscal responsibility, and lower taxes. Please explain why these are such terrible principles.

Again agree on NIPPER but does the Tea Bag group just say this or is it for real? Failure to compromise looks good on paper but it does not solve problems and find solutions. We have work together or fail as a nation, agreed?
On the subject of illegals, voting is another of those issues among so many that can only be cured in one way. But it is not an easy road. McCain has proven that many times now. And I am not a McCain lover in any way.
John Galt - I remember when he came to ASPD. I had thoughts about this guy. Way to smart for this neighborhood. Too classy, to well thought out and probably lots of other things. I contacted a couple of admins and they did some background work - and some others were checked out back then too, don't think you slipped in the cracks- even COG -

I am not right or left - but if we don't do what is right there will be nothing left to have in this US of A.

Solutions are needed every step of the way. Will we all agree what they are? Piece by piece, step by step it can be done. It will not be easy or fun, everyone will take a hit now and then, even the farmers in the dell! The people of power - money/wealth what ever you want to call it need to be isolated - given just there ONE VOTE like everyone else.
Can we start there? Can we all agree on that? We have to start somewhere, sometime or we are lost forever!

Sermon over........

Ah, I'm so disappointed. Sillygirl, I can't kiss your ass this time. Catnip obviously doesn't approve of representative government, and he thinks it is ok to take my money so Jetmore can put on "The Glass Menagerie." He thinks it is too much of a burden to reach into one's wallet or purse to produce an ID when voting. He also thinks that skyrocketing debt is good for the country. Sorry, I can't go along with that. Even Lindsay Lohan knows better. But I am still in lust with you, Sillygirl!

Wow way to miss the point COG. This thread is full of blatant stupidity (as per usual on this board). Bring a fact, not just some narrow minded, bible thumping, propaganda.

"Oh no! Don't take my hooker money to provide arts education to kids!" You pay taxes. You already support the arts. Don't be so fucking selfish. Humanity has been creating art since we got thumbs. This was not due to boredom. Extrapolate....

YOU DO ACTUALLY NEED TO SHOW ID TO VOTE. (If your local polling place does not require this perhaps you should say something.)

CND provided all the facts needed for this thread. You want to argue about skyrocketing debt? Start a thread. Oh wait! I offered a great thread a couple of months ago in which you go to the NYTimes website and balance the budget yourself. How many of you brain surgeons had the balls to put your money where your mouth is?

Oooh no......you compared to me Lindsey Lohan but made it better by implying you might still fuck me. Get over yourself.

Sillygirl

Honestly, I didn't see any facts in Catnip's post. I saw opinion, anger and frustration that his side didn't do well in the last election, which I understand. I felt that way in 2008. I disagree with his vision of the US, but I do not doubt his sincerity or patriotism.

And I thought the Lindsay Lohan thing was funny. That was just a good-natured tease, and I am sure no one not in Congress, including Catnip, is dumber than Lilo.

And I have no intention of getting over myself, I LIKE myself!

But at your suggestion, I will spend my hobby money elsewhere. You are still hot, and I love your posts. I don't choose my friends based on their political persuasion, but if you're offended by my position, I will, sadly, take you off my list.

Re-read your post, Sillygirl. I was bored. Bible-thumping? LOL! I don't recall doing that EVER on this board. And I've addressed skyrocketing debt on several threads, including ones I've started. Oh, and I don't consider it "hooker money," I prefer to think of it as "escort enhancement." Ah, we could have made beautiful music together . . .

Hon, you've had a year to book with me and you haven't. Take me off your list? Lol. I'm shattered.

What did he talk about in initial post? Gov't arts funding and abortion. Plenty of facts about that stuff.

Default Not Qualified?

Sorry Barleycorn: it just isn't so. Hawaii, if still a territory, would still qualify him as a natural-born citizen. I have had quite a few friends born in territories, or overseas, who still qualify as "natural=born citizens.

See the following: http://www.usconstitution.net/consttop_citi.html
Anyone falling into these categories is considered natural-born, and is eligible to run for President or Vice President. These provisions allow the children of military families to be considered natural-born, for example.

Separate sections handle territories that the United States has acquired over time, such as Puerto Rico (8 USC 1402), Alaska (8 USC 1404), Hawaii (8 USC 1405), the U.S. Virgin Islands (8 USC 1406), and Guam (8 USC 1407). Each of these sections confer citizenship on persons living in these territories as of a certain date, and usually confer natural-born status on persons born in those territories after that date. For example, for Puerto Rico, all persons born in Puerto Rico between April 11, 1899, and January 12, 1941, are automatically conferred citizenship as of the date the law was signed by the President (June 27, 1952). Additionally, all persons born in Puerto Rico on or after January 13, 1941, are natural-born citizens of the United States. Note that because of when the law was passed, for some, the natural-born status was retroactive.
By the way, I really don't care for Obama. I think he is an idiot. That is my prejudiced opinion, but that has nothing to do with the question of citizens born in territories.

What do you mean you can't get an abortion in Kansas? When did this change?

And again, the Tea Party stands for limited gov't, fiscal responsibility, and lower taxes. Please explain why these are such terrible principles.
Goodness girl,

When you talk like this it makes me want to invite you out for dinner, just to have a dinner conversation.

Admins checked him out and found nothing to fear. Beyond that, the information is not made public. Moderators do have some tools to check out members - well beyond what you might think! I found that out when I helped Susan create Area69 and as a moderator on another group.
So knowing he was not a thread, I share a few things and watched as he became more active. A few reviews under his belt made me more comfortable. I grew to respect his opinions even though I rarely agree with them. Rarely childish but always insightful.
