Yes what a classic !!

On LBJ ; Actually the initial tally was called in to State Election Office, supposedly in error,on election night as 700 some odd votes.
Several nights later the votes were added and sent in as 900 and some odd votes.

Not only were they in same handwriting and ink,but they were in alphabetical order! Also you could see where the "7" had been changed to a "9".

Only in Texas !!

TravelingTex: thanks for the informative and illustrative post, The idea here is that cheating on elections probably date back to cave man times when one guy threw two rock in the hole rather than his allotted one. Also, I think that for a reasonable thinking person, which T. supporters are not, it would demonstrate how far we have come in cleaning up our election process. I saw an interview with a high ranking voting official in Oregon where they have big boxes around for folks to deposit their ballots in, and she stated that voting fraud was so small that it was only a small fraction of 1% of the votes legitimately cast.

RE: also you comments on Louisiana made me think of Huey P. Long. I have figured he had a lot of outside help in getting elected although Wikipedia does not mention any election fraud. BTW, Robert Penn Warren denites that his book, All the Kings Men,is about HPL.

Yes, most aware citizens know that today's voting processes are generally clean. There are still violations in every election, of course, and people still go to jail for it. That shows that the voting integrity processes work. The biggest recent scandal, involving 35,000 votes in North Carolina registered by a contracted Republican operative, resulted in a do-over election and jail terms; the system works.

There are states that deliver the vote without outright corruption. For instance, New Mexico has a powerful Democratic machine that delivers the vote based on social pressure, food give-aways (hams and turkeys at Christmas, classic), and "normal" local politics. That was the secret behind the former ward boss/union boss system in the Rust Belt states.

Regarding Huey P. Long, my understanding of his power base is the same as yours, that he didn't have to resort to tail-end ballot box stuffing as did LBJ. Long already had everybody in his pocket. There was considerable buying of individual votes throughout southern Louisiana in particular, though. Five dollars and a shot of whiskey was the going rate for black votes in southern Louisiana, ten dollars for white votes. Those voters actually voted legally in their own names, no identity fraud. Regarding Leander Perez in Plaquemines Parish, it was said that FDR only feared one man: Huey P. Long; and Long only feared one man: Leander Perez.

Bonus trivia: Louisiana is still ranked as the most corrupt state in the Union, based on Federal corruption convictions. It's far outpaced by the District of Columbia, though, the most corrupt by quite a bit. The most corrupt city, by the same measure? Chicago.

Measured by the force and scope of anti-corruption laws, California has the toughest regulations, followed by Washington. By that measure, North Dakota is the easiest state to buy a politician - no limits on direct contributions by anybody - followed by Wyoming, with very few regulations against buying a politician.

Thanks for your cogent and informative reply. I was going to post, but forgot to, how ranchers, or others that ran a business that employed a number of black or brown people would load them on a truck and pay them each a dollar to vote for a certain person.

$5 for a vote sounds like a good deal, considering. Wonder if it depended on the election and associated variables.

Well, that's all we need now, and that is for the mob to start voting. T. would win for sure then.

Well, with Biden picking Kamala, he just handed it to Trump.

BLM marches every night for almost 3 months, and he picks the woman who as a DA has locked up more black men than any other DA in history. What a fucking idiot.

Unfortunately for you, these links do not prove that there would be "MASS" voter fraud by mail in ballots. It is funny that a lot of the people who do try to commit voter fraud are conservatives. Like the guy in North Carolina.

Pity she has not learned the beauty and wonderment of brevity, so elequently delivered by her kindred spirit.

My post fron August 9th:

Doubtful Biden will win Texas. I have predicted for quite a while that Trump will not win Texas by the 9% margin he did in 2016, with the margin in 2020 probably being under 5%.

Trump leading in Texas by 5.8%. with 2% of the vote left to be counted.
