Then again, Barack Obama won the prize in 2009, while refusing to meet with Kim Jong-il and, by the way, expanding America’s drone program. (He won for his promotion of, notably not his success in achieving, “cooperation between peoples.”)


what he seems to not realize nor make any attempt to note is that there never should have been a Nobel prize .. certainly not for peace or anything else as Alfred Nobel's main contributions to the world are Dynamite and Gelignte, both high explosives.


regardless of the uses of these explosives in mining and other non-violent uses, they have of course been used many times in war and terrorist acts. was Nobel trying to atone for this by creating a Nobel peace prize? possibly.


in today's rabid dog cancel culture the Nobel itself should be cancelled

Now.. I do feel that sitting politicians shouldn't be eligible.. and I've felt that way ever since Obama got his dubious award..... I prefer to see it bestowed upon those who shouldn't be attempting peace as a part of their "job".



Having said that-- I'm amused to see the Atlantic having an utter meltdown about this.
