Hitler wasn't a communist. He hated communism.

Lots of South American dictators (not communists, dictators) demonized their opponents, too! Still do!

If you believe that it's possible for hangings, and firing squads, to start up in the U.S., I think you're kidding yourself, and the rest of us, too.

Got any logical theories, with evidence to support them?

He's referencing 1984.

Thoughtcrime is punishable by death, but there's a much scarier and disturbing "treatment" that was done to the main character, which ultimately ended with a bullet in his head, but it was way worse than only that. They fucked with him and manipulated him until they forced him to fall in love with Big Brother, and then they shot him in his head, which he was thankful for, not because he wanted to end his misery, but because he wanted to die while in the perfect state of mind that they, the party, gave to him.
