Definitely sad ratings. The Hall of Game game Thursday evening got half the Olympics Saturday evening rating. Think about that...half as many people tuned in to watch NFL practice compared to a world class international sporting event.

Personally, I love watching the Olympic games. I refuse to let a few wokey assholes ruin the experience for me. Megan Rupino can kiss my ass. There are plenty of other competitors with strong national commitment and pride. Just watch the shooting sports (dual gold in skeet), golf (dual gold), swimming, cycling, track & field and others.

Kudos to the women's volleyball team to win the 39th gold medal to edge past China in the gold medal count and blowing away the world in the overall medal count. USA won more than one third of the 333 medals awarded. BUT, a few woke assholes dominated the mainstream media headlines. FUCK THEM!

I love watching the Olympics. Hell, I'll watch most anything that's on. I agree that the woke idiots have gained unwarranted headlines, but they will be forgotten quickly. I enjoyed the swimming, gymnastics, skateboarding and anything track and field.

The whole Biles thing...well, she choked. For an athlete at the highest level possible you have to have handle on those things. Pulling out of a top tier event is a luxury the rest of the world doesn't have. When I had to take a test to finish grad school, licensure or crucial job event, I couldn't go up to the person and say, "You know what? I'm not all there mentally today. I have a case of the 'twistys' so I'm gonna have to reschedule." Yeah, that was not an option. She should have checked herself before the Olympics began.

Tim and Randy were highly rated by age. Danny is now Indiana and where he is still involved in TT, where the other two are I don't know!
But I'll tell you this my table tennis game is still pretty damn good to this day!
A couple of serves and Im 15 again.
We would go smoke some (forbidden subject) and go up Carrick Park to the shelter house and play for hours!
That was the early to mid 70s.

It's one thing to say the olympics have bad ratings and it's an entirely different thing to say that it has primarily to do with politics. For the latter, you actually need to show why that would be the case instead of justing saying that it is.

As someone who watches the olympics regularly (I'm a big track & field fan who was highly disappointed in the USA men's team's performance) I can say that yes I did watch less olympics this time around. One of the reasons for that is the the games were in Japan which nearly has a half a day difference in time as opposed to Brazil (2016 summer olympics) which was only a few hours off which allowed me to watch a lot of events live. Now why does this matter? Most of the primetime events that we watch are reruns so by the time they come on, I already know the outcome. I will grant that the rerun feature has always been the case in games in far away countries, but we were much less digital in say 2008 than we are now. No one was getting to the minute scoring updates back then like they can now. We also didn't have the streaming capacity that we have now. This has allowed us to be more flexible and selective with our viewing as opposed to just turning one the TV to the one channel that is available as I imagine some of you grew with (jk jk... but actually I think some of you might be that old?). So for me, I have forgone the primetime viewing except for the live ones and I've primarily gone youtube to watch the highlights / replays (which is also a lot easier for events like track where the actual races are mere seconds to minutes).

Now obviously that is just my story, but it illustrates what one might expect an author of an article to do before simply making a claim and writing it. Though Wayne was probably able to do his writing in 2 minutes vs my 5.

Not to mention that NBC's coverage of the Olympics was absolutely terrible. Disjoited coverage, incorrect guide information, millions of commercials and moronic commentary. Fortunately Roku provided direct feeds from OBS. I wonder how many people like me used that service to watch in the US, thus reducing the broadcast ratings.

Exactly! I ignore the assholes, especially purple hair and hammer throw girl with the weird lips, and focused on the larger number of awesome young dedicated Americans reaching their dream. Good stuff.

The olympics and the NFL are getting exactly what they deserve, shitty ratings.

They should have stepped on Kapperdick, and ended the protests then, it would have been a 24 hour news story at best, now, they have allowed the few woke assholes to destroy their respective industries.
