We are currently experiencing a serious COVID upsurge, so it would not be unreasonable for one to assume that a massive COVID attack is referring to the current COVID upsurge and not referring the the initial COVID outbreak that happened almost two years ago. To me, the former seems obvious, but so be it.

What you don't seem to be asking yourself is...."What makes you think that Trump would handle this "4th Wave" any different than the way he mishandled the first 3? I do believe that is what this article is getting at. Trump is acting like he was never in position to handle the pandemic when in fact he was. And it was his mishandling that got him beat, among other issues.
H I M was saying that if H I M was president during this current surge that the media would be giving H I M hell for it. However, the media rarely criticizes Biden. They are putting all the blame on unvaccinated people which they have incorrectly categorized as right wing H I M supporters.
Regardless, the media rarely criticizes Biden, with the exception of Fox news and alternative social media outlets. I think that was the point.
I don't think H I M would be handling this any differently than Biden is currently. However, H I M would not be flirting with ideas like second lockdowns or mask and vaccine mandates.

No, The media did/does not pick on Trump, the only thing the media would do is report the things Trump says and does. When you go on camera and say stuff like "it's
all a hoax" and "it will all just go away" then don't get mad when people call you out on it. The media has criticized Biden numeroustimes. Mainly for things that are not his fault like the whole border issue.

It is night and day as far as how things are being handled. Biden is not telling people to drink bleach, Biden is listening to those who know what they're talking about. And as long as we have far right conspiracy nuts speading bullshit information about the vaccine then we will never get out of this and therefore lockdowns may be the proper procedure.
"It’s been a wild year or so for us all, so you’d be forgiven for thinking it went by in a flash and forgetting a few things. Yet, when ex-president Donald Trump appeared to forget that he was in charge when the coronavirus pandemic began last year, we couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow.
The “confusing” remarks came as Trump spoke on the phone to Fox News’ Dan Bongino, during his Unfiltered programme on Saturday.
Speaking to the presenter, Trump asked: “Could you imagine if I were president right now and we had this massive attack from the coronavirus?
“I never liked to call it that. They have new names, then they have other new names, but it’s exactly what we had.”
We don’t need to imagine it, Trump, because it happened.
In one of the wildest moments during his presidency – and indeed, during the pandemic – the Republican suggested bringing ultraviolet light or “a very powerful light” inside the body to or injecting disinfectant to kill the coronavirus.
“I see the disinfectant that knocks it out in a minute, one minute. Is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside or almost a cleaning? It gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number,” Trump said.
In October last year, the then-president tested positive for coronavirus and was admitted to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
The New York Times claimed in February that Trump’s oxygen levels were in fact so low that doctors feared he would need a ventilator.
Then, on 19th January 2021 - his penultimate day in office - it was revealed that the coronavirus death toll for the United States had passed 400,000 people.
Twitter has since been left confused by how Trump could seemingly forget all of this:
For what it’s worth, though, we wish we could forget Trump’s presidency too.
