With economists like Salty, we’re gonna be just fine. Golden Age coming and all.

Haven't you seen the effect on car prices ?
Didn't you notice Trump begging retailers like Walmart to "eat" the price increases ?

And there are more to come the 2nd half of 2025. You are completely off.

That's what agreements are. Maybe you are thinking about Policy? Policy is not formally documented. Or a spit-in-the-palm-handshake? That is a promise or word.

Agreements of the tariff variety are always formalized on paper between trading partners.

And the worst part may be there is no stabilization of the tariff rates. They can change at any time. A disaster for any business trying to plan their costs and inventory.
See NaCl-y? I ain't the only one that knows that what you post is wrong.

Where is the official site to show all the agreements that have been done and signed? Salty should link that to show us how wrong the doubters are.

And no....there have not been many tariff deals. You are just making that up in your salt mind.
And don't say it's straight from the horses mouth (i.e. your *insiders*)

Anyone buy a car of late? If so, compare it to previous year price. Got one before all this. And boy, are the salemen now using that tarif bit for markup.

July 09 is the deadline.

Looks like one or two deals have been done. The administration had to move the deadline.......again.
Now planning to just send out letters instead of making deals.

Meantime, businesses continue to suffer under the "maybe tariff, maybe not" administration.

Supposedly Trump said tariffs are too complicated. That’s why he can’t make any deals.

Ordering a bucket of KFC is too complicated for him.

He can't make any deals because he doesn't know who he is half the time.

Just a horrid mess, all created by Trump.

The economy will decline, and this is all that will be left:

The headline in the NYT this morning sums this perfectly:

"As Trump Sows Tariff Confusion, Rules of Global Commerce Give Way to Chaos"

The schizophrenic temper tantrum that he is throwing with Canada is just so fucked up... a perfect illustration of how badly he is handling all of this. And now even that stupid turd Bessent is selling out his last threads of credibility...

Why make an agreement with the Trump administration when you know that it can be blown up at any time. Trump is a bad faith negotiator. Knuckling under will just bring forth new demands at a later date.

I think most world governments have figured this out by now. The real question is will someone think it’s in their best interests to make a deal first before the other players.

It’s the classic prisoners dilemma.

But then again that would only work if you can trust the other side to hold up their end of the deal and I’m not sure how trustworthy the new administration actually is.

Here is this weekend update.

President Donald Trump on Saturday threatened a significant tariff hike on the European Union and Mexico, two of the largest U.S. trade partners.

In separate letters published on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump wrote that each country will face a blanket tariff rate of 30% on all goods exported to the U.S. starting Aug. 1.

Trump threatened even higher tariffs if either the E.U. or Mexico retaliate against his new levy.

Trump has spent the past week bringing his trade war back to a roaring boil. He kicked it off by issuing dozens of letters announcing unilateral tariffs, then said he planned to impose 50% duties on copper goods, sending prices of the raw metal to all-time highs. Late Thursday, he announced he would apply a blanket tariff of up to 20% on all imports, as well as a 35% tariff to some, and perhaps all, Canadian imports starting next month.

I don’t really understand the strategy behind this tariff war he’s been threatening the world with. It’s like he has a trigger to a bomb that can blow up the world’s economy and he’s threatening to blow it all up if he doesn’t get his own way.

The only thing that can come from this is that the every one decides to move away from the guy with the bomb. That way if he pulls the trigger they can minimize the damage.

You imply that they have an actual strategy, giving him too much credit.
