Wile you and I are often in close agreement on many threads here, this is not and cannot be one of them.
Placing the portrait of someone who has passed away on coins currency is a gesture honoring their memory. In the USA, we do not honor folks this way in their lifetime. As Tex-Dotgujy has pointed out, that is what despots and dictators do.
However ineffectually my efforts are, I vigerously oppose any suggestion of putting President Trump's likeness on any currency or coin.
I would endorse, support and perhaps even buy a silver or gold coin issued by a US mint with his face on it after President Trump leaves office.

... Well, reckon we'll just have to agree to disagree here, mate.
As I can surely understand yer viewpoint on the issue.
Now, I 'appen to see it differently - and do hope the US Mint
decides to make a good exception in this case - with a shiny
Patriotic Trump coin for America's 250th Anniversary.
... ... ...

I may buy a roll or two ASAP when these coins are issued after all.
They will become collecable immediately, and rare in the future.

Lol, more like Destroyer of the Dollar but the King of Gold. Trump coins where being sold at well known bullion dealer SD Bullion, Trump ordered them to STOP all sales with gold and silver bullion coins with his image on it and they had to pull all products. It's well known that Trump wants a weak dollar and that's what we have. Lowering interest rates is killing the dollar. Look at gold and silver at all time highs as a result of lowering interest rates recently! We're literally living thru history knowing what happened last week. Many people don't know what the hell is going on. BRICS ditching the USD and Euro while setting up their own financial system to rival the West is going to be the rudest wake up call of epic proportions for many in the West who have put their full faith in fiat currency. This is going to end badly.

President Trump doesn't deserve a place on Mount Rushmore in my opinion, only Presidents who held the title before 1913 seems appropriate.

They wouldn't start using Trump coins as circulating currency but the public will buy them.

What I could imagine happening is the mint issuing a silver dollar coin. Some folks would pay a premium to have them and iff they were pure silver (.999 fine) some folks would buy them to "stack" as a store of value.
More appropriately would be a gold coin.
If the US government does not do this at some point, some private outfit such as the Franklin Mint, eventually will.
I don't see any of this happening with a Joe Biden coin though.

there is currently a Presidential line of Silver Medals offered by the mint with only a few new releases for 2025. The Taft silver medal is set to be released either this month or in November. Trump will more than likely be honored along with Biden. Good chances this will happen.

... Right-good thing that you decided to wander back on-topic

'Cause this one is off-topic, as the discussion is on the
US Mint and the commemorative Trump Coin.
... And I do agree with you that it just may happen...

Trump already has a coin......and Melania too.
And they didn't need the US Mint to issue it.

Accordingly...
According to my watch:
The timing of an "official" Trump coin would coincide with his image being carved on to Mount Rushmore in the future. However, that could well be after WWW III to commemorate a time when there was actual hope in the world.

My comment is not off topic. Trump is NO King of the Dollar, he is the Destroyer of the Dollar. Whether he gets put on a coin or not I could care less as he's just another one of the Kings men. Personally you shouldn't collect it but instead collect the Presidential coins of Presidents who served as President pre 1913. A better choice.
