If you want to see a change in congress then more states should move to the same kind of open primary system that they have in Alaska.
https://www.uniteamerica.org/article...on-competition
From the article:
“Two simple but powerful things are true about Alaska’s elections: Every eligible voter has the freedom to vote for any candidate, regardless of party, in every taxpayer-funded election; and candidates have to win a majority of the vote to take office in November.
“While some politicians oppose open primaries because they actually have to compete to win elections, we know voters across the political spectrum like it - not only in Alaska, but wherever they’re used. In fact, voters like it so much that more than 1.4 million of them in six states have signed petitions to qualify open primary initiatives for this November’s ballot.”

There is no other point of view when the president demands states gerrymander existing congressional districts to try to keep his grip on Congress.
What he’s done isn’t another point of view. It’s yet another effort to rig the voting and keep his power from slipping out of his grasp.
This shit wouldn’t be happening if not for Trump’s unorthodox, unethical and likely illegal power grabs.
What you’re complaining about is a description of the first 10 months of TRump 2.0. If you can’t see that, then you should try another point of view.

And no one else has done that?
It is a problem when some do it but not if others do it! I think that is definition of hypocrisy!

Maybe you should read the story you posted, amigo.

Republicans have gerrymandered more and benefited from the practice more historically, with the Texas proposal described as an extraordinarily brazen attempt. According to a 2022 report, Republicans have control over the redistricting process in more states due to fewer independent redistricting processes in place and more red states not having split governments. Before the 2020 redrawing of district line was when Republicans used gerrymandering to their advantage most, Brookings Institution writes. Since then, Democrats have become more savvy in fighting Republican redistricting campaigns while the country's voting patterns have moved away from Democrats being concentrated in cities and Republicans spread out in the rest of the country, causing each party to lose less votes to the winner-takes-all system. This has led to the fact that in recent elections, both party's share of the popular Congressional vote has matched their House seats more closely despite the current level of gerrymandering.

My point is if you want better candidates it should be outlawed by congress. We need an unbiased and transparent process when creating congressional districts. When politicians create their own districts they get to choose their voters rather than the voters choosing them.

Give it time. Never underestimate the Republican half of the Uniparty to fuck up a sure thing. They'll blow it like they always do.
Always gotta presever that 49.999 to 50.0001 "majority"
Does anyone else here smell bullshit that all of these elections come down to recounts so frequently?
Democrat loses, recount until votes "found" then declare the democrat the winner many days after "election day". Then, destroy all records for lame reason (too expensive to store, no room, dog ate them, etc)
The Uniparty wants us all to be fighting each other. We need to realize who our common enemies are!

It is wrong no matter which party does it.
What was done in Texas was wrong. Currently 25 Texas House members are Republican and 13 Democratic, 66%% to 34%. Redistricting could make it 30 Republican and 8 Democratic, 79% to 21%. Trump won Texas in 2024 with 56% of the vote.
And this misrepresentation is reflected in many states, red and blue. And it is wrong.

I love this.
I once accidentally voted straight party. I hated it. Kept getting notices about stuff with that party.
I have always believed in voting for the person best able to handle the job at the time. Regardless of party. More than once i'd have liked to have a Potus from one party and VP from another.

Sorry to be dense. I'm just trying to catch up....
What was the point of this here thread? Old white people still like Trump?
Was there any confirmation basis?
(not confirmation bias...I know there is THAT...and is already covered in the "Habitual-Criminal-Illegal-Commie-Trans Trucker" thread)
.
