I have lunch with a much younger co-worker on a regular basis and never notice any "looks". Although, one waitress referred to her unknowningly as my wife. I chuckeled to myself and felt pretty flattered. I've asked escorts, on occasion, if they mind holding hands in public and only one felt uncomfortable about it.

I think that the interaction the couple in question has is also very telling. Holding hands, rubbing of the back, small touches can tell alot. Most guys don't mind holding hands in public when going out with me. I feel as though it is kind of cold to not hold hands if you are walking along with each other.

I usually enjoy a nice dinner date at one of the nicer restaurents in the French Quarter. In most cases, we do not get any funny looks. The key is how she is dressed, and outward appearances are the most relevant. Don't be afraid to ask the person seating you to change tables to a more quiet area of the restaurent... And, it is no ones business what each of your hands are doing under the table and hidden by the table cloth.....<smile>
